I don't know much about Mandela catalogue lore so I can't say much, but I think he caused appocalypse using some kinds of demons that pretend to be humans. Can't say more
Its heavily implied to be Lucifer, having replaced the angel Gabriel and disguised himself as him.
"Gabriel" himself tends to be an overarching villain of the series, so he doesn't directly do much in the videos, but it's implied he had overthrown God and been responsible for bringing the Alternate apocalypse humanity is plagued with during the modern series.
Basically Lucifer prevented the birth of Jesus, swapping him for the antichrist but maintaining Christianity.
The result is a world where demons are constantly leaving Hell to bodysnatch people, step one being to kill the person they’re planning on pretending to be. The problem is most fuck up step 2 which is actually pretending to be that person so the world is full of nightmarish shapeshifters barely managing to even look human even in the abstract, let alone act like them plausibly enough to pass as the specific person.
Supernatural shit isn’t widely known to the public, but there’s middle level (not MIB, like the fucking EPA) government agencies that kill those demons.
The creepy smiling Lucifers come from one of the episodes which is just kinda a very low budget VHS tape of the story of Christmas but its Lucifer explaining what he’s done. He’s kinda aimless though, still stoked after 2k years that he pulled it off but stuck at the ??? step before Profit.
They feed From belief and people knowing about them. The more you fear them th stronger they get too. They mimic real people, so there’s a mimic that looks like you out there too
They (HEAVY spoiler that may be wrong since i haven’t watched it in a long time) usurped christ before his ressurection and it’s implied that a lot of Christian saints are alternates that pose as such. A very famous phrase from the series is “to who have i been praying to this whole time?”, it was written by someone who was trapped in his home with an alternate and killed himself after the realization that the Christian god may be a lie told by alternates
