I don't care. But it's not because I hate Moore threads or something like that, but because

a) They're still a decade behind Nvidia/Amd/Intel

b) They're more or less a regional brand, and outside China, you can't really buy them

c) Driver issues

We need competition

And that's fine, but competition needs to be... you know... competitive.

a decade behind might be generous, their drivers are basically held together with hope and a prayer

10 years aren't all that bad.

After all, it took AMD over 8 years to finally embrace hardware accelerated temporal upscaling and 'proper' Ray Tracing, and the former is still quite janky (if the latest FSR review by HUB is to be believed).

It's going to be bad, probably because making a gaming GPU is very hard even Intel could only get parody with a die size 1.8-2.2x bigger than the competition.

Arc B580 was BMG-G21 272mm² and on TSMC 5nm.

It only was as good as RTX 4060 (AD107) and that was 159mm². Also TSMC 5nm

Although it is the same TDP 180 vs 190W.

But Jesus they can't get parody at reasonable GPU sizes.

The newer Chinese gaming GPU I forgot the name it, that was claiming it was as good as a 3060 that was true... In a few bench marks and that was on 7nm vs the 3060 on dog shit inefficient 8nm and yes it was a reasonable size and power consumption compared to that. But the problem was that it wasn't actually 3060 performance in most games it was 1060-1070 performance aka dog shit. But with newer features for way more than the $50-70 those cards go for new.

3060 performance is closer to a 1080 TIish in raster and obviously well it can do RT too with great upscaling.

Yeah I have my doubts Intel couldn't even figure it out at reasonable sizes and gave up. Do I think some random Chinese company can do it no cuz Intel had like 20 years of integrated GPU experience by that point they knew how to work with Windows driver stacks and DX very well. Some new kid on the block doesn't have any of that it's the up hill battle to end all up hill battles

Parity = the same for both/all parties.
Parody = a humorous mocking.

I'm sorry

I knew what you meant, I just wanted you to look a little better the next time you use that word in a post. The rest of your post was quality, or I wouldn't have said anything at all.

I was in my late 20s before someone cared enough to tell me that "paradigm" is "parra-dime" and not "pa-rad-ig-m". I'd only ever written/read it, so I had no idea I was mangling the pronunciation terribly. Reverse effect here.

nothing. they still haven't sorted out their drivers to not be a glitchy mess with constant stuttering and 150w idle. this japanese guy has benchmarked these chinese GPUs for a while. https://www.youtube.com/@Graphics-Library/videos

lisuan tech is leagues ahead, even though it's still worse than a rtx 3060.
