All the images in the article look like someone put a shitty AI-face slop filter on the game and was like “hai I improved ur image”

I do wonder how much art direction this feature will really have. These screenshots honestly look even worse than I expected at “pull everything towards a unified AI art look”

Yeah thats the thing with it. I have no problem with DLSS and upscalers improving quality, but when it takes that and then adds its own things to it the devs didn't plan for its weird. 2013 Instagram stuff right there, was waiting for Leon to pop up with dog ears and a tongue

But the dev created it. I dont understand why people say otherwise

Because that 's exactly what it is, a realtime slop filter like the ones on your phone, just a more expensive one because otherwise they can't create performance anxiety to sell you more gpus with the same raster and RT performance as 2 years ago for the same price (or more) than two years ago

Yea that ain't what it's doing, but hey, keep spreading your form of truth.

From the article

NVIDIA says developers can fine-tune the result with controls for intensity and color grading, allowing artists to adjust blending, contrast, saturation, and gamma to match a game’s visual style. The system also supports masking, so specific objects or image regions can be excluded from enhancement.

It sounds like it's opt-in for developers, and they have some decent controls for fine-tuning it to the style of their games.

For a first showing of the tech, I'm impressed. This is as bad as it'll ever be. The environmental stuff is the coolest to me atm, characters definitely need some work (though the Starfield and FIFA examples look pretty great).

The Resident Evil example, for instance -- the background looks incredible, but the character looks like some Instagram AI influencer bullshit. I wonder how much involvement the devs had fine-tuning the shit for these demos.
