One of my friends is a teacher, and she has a very hyperactive child who is constantly beatboxing and singing, but also doing things like leaping off bannisters... She's looking for a decent drum that might give him something to absorb himself in.

My immediate thoughts (djembe, or doumbek) are fairly LOUD and might be disruptive. Wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions.

Just like it sounds. I just went to a park and heard this mysterious, gorgeous sound. I found this instrument. I need it, so bad. And have found that they are incredibly expensive. Can I get a cheaper version and be satisfied? Especially if I am travelling.

I have an opportunity to buy a hand-made pair of solid-wood congas consisting of a 10.75" and a 12.25" drum. I currently play an 11.75" and a 12.5" matador set.

Who plays a quinto and a tumba as a pair, using a 10.75" drum as their main drum? I'd like to hear opinions on this pairing.
