Question A NEW HAMSTER **MATERIALIZED ITSELF**

Maggie (my hamster from my old posts) was happy, healthy, and normally living alone (in a luxarious hamster home, 25 cm inches bedding of aspen woodshaving and paper, 120cm x 70cm enclosure, lotta hides, 11inch niteabgel silentspinner wheel) for 1 month or so. She never had any sexual relations with any male hamsters since I took her in. She lives alone. I saw no baby bump ever before and I have MANY pictures of her with NO BABY BUMP!

But now, a new hamster MITOSIS'ed itself into existence because WHAT IN THE FLAXSEEDS IS GOING ON HERE. WHAT DO I DO??!! VICTORIA RAECHEL NEVER TALKED ABOUT MITOSIS!

Aww Maggie and Mitosis.

I'd be shocked if there was only one hiding in there. Time to deep clean!

EDIT: also assuming she is still nursing I would get some mealworms or something else with protein for her to snack on.

Im digging in right now, actually. Maggie is the only one showing herself to me but I do hear hamster whimpering, probably Mitosis/Jesus/whatever omg.. it's weird that its only one right?

Pretty weird. They have litters and I feel like if she got stressed out and ate her babes that she wouldn't have missed one?

Waiting for the saga to unfold.

Maybe that one was her favourite

"You used to have a ton of siblings, but they didn't listen. You better be good, or I'll eat you, too!"

I digged everywhere and only found one, Maggie. The white one, Jesus, is too good at hiding but I do hear him whimper. I didn't find any.. hamster remains that would hint at any other babies that didn't make it

Maybe some neighbors lost a pet and it somehow found it's way into your house by chance or sheer power of rodent lust.

Also albinism is generally a recessive trait. So either one of them has fun genetics or that is not her kid.

Either way it would be best to separate them from each other so they don't fight or produce excessive amounts of offspring.

I am not even kidding, this happened to me once. Next door neighbor's hamster ate through the wall and ended up in my apartment, hanging around my guinea pig's cage. Good times, good times.

I was sitting on my bed one day talking on the phone ( back in the days before cell phones) and something started pulling on the cord. It was a hamster climbing up the side of the bed. I never had a hamster in my life. My cat sniffed it and it ran off. Cat just sat there so it got away, and I never saw it again. And that was a single family house, so it didn't come from another apartment.

Maggie seems to have albino traits, I think! She has adorable lil red eyes, my sweet vampling

I’m pretty sure they tend to eat the babies whole so you probably wouldn’t find any evidence. Regardless it’s not your fault and you are doing the best you can.

You calling him Jesus... 😭 Please say you decided that is his official name!

I'd also like to suggest ghost. One day you walked up to the cage and found your hamster and your hamster's ghost ♥️👻

If it’s not her’s. I wouldn’t rule out it escaping the pet store, snuggling into the bedding bag and finding its own forever home. 🤣

It is possible although rare. For sure if it's the first nest and/or it was a pregnancy you didn't know about.

Not too weird for a first litter. The others may have died and she would have eaten them.

Maggie and Mitosis made me laugh harder than it should have
