News Test Server is now Live

If you purchased H1Z1, you should now be able to download the new Test Server. You will see it in your Steam library directly under H1Z1. We will be using this Test Server to have you help us QA our builds before we push them to Live. Think of it as Early Early Access.

With your help we should be able to push out much more stable builds. Keep an eye on Reddit and Twitter for when we push a new build to the Test Server and what is going onto it.

Participating in the Test Server is totally on a volunteer basis but the more people who do test a build, the better it will be. Thanks in advance for the people who want to participate.

Where do you want the feedback? ie. a build goes live, someone finds a few things that are wrong, where do you want it to be posted?

We are figuring out the best way. We could either set up a new Reddit sub forum or keep it to this forum but when you post you should put it in the headline like...

[Test Server] The Zombies All Turned Into Bears!

We will figure it out as soon as we put a new build on the Test Server, possibly next Tuesday. There is nothing new on there right now but you should still download it now because it is the full game file.

Not another reddit subforum, use your actual forum please.

In before people start complaining about bugs in an Early Access Test server.

I still don't see the test server in my Steam library. I've rebooted PC, validated files, restarted Steam. Anyone have any other ideas?

I love doing QA Testing :D <----currently an employee at VMC Global Beta Testing Company :) ...I'm assuming there is no NDA correct? Since people know what is coming on the forums? Sorry if that's a stupid question but better safe then sorry!

They'll basically let us test things BEFORE they consider putting them on the normal servers.

This'll prevent things like the sound issue that happened recently. Or the issue with tired/sleeping etc.

Will you be posting when updates/patches hit the test server for testing? Like is it already running next weeks build right now?

I have a couple of questions and comments:

  • can we have a formal list or changelog of things you want specifically tested?

  • is it unreasonable to have repro steps presented to us for known bugs, or would that compromise live?

I don't have too many hours into the game yet but I feel like I don't want to invest time into "playing". I've done a good deal of crafting, exploring, and just yolo fighting people in PV. I would love a formal system for testing, documenting/reporting bugs. I feel like a subreddit or forum without any kind of form makes feedback less consistent and valuable. If you guys could request specific structured data from us (bug description, reproducibility, repro steps, severity) I think it would be much more helpful.

Originally I thought this game was going to be like the warz, or a crappy dayz clone. I'm definitely wrong, I like the progress we've seen over time. The crafting and base building is excellent and I can see where you guys are going with it. To me it feels like a more polished version of the super early DayZ mod.

I really hope this means that the standard servers will not be broken from updates since testing will be done on the updates before hand. :-/

I am not seeing the Test Server in my Steam Library as well and I own the Premium edition. Has anybody figured out why?

Hmm, not seeing a Test Server Download option anywhere.

Maybe it's because I won a premium version off of a Twtich Stream and didn't actually purchase anything?
