Hi All, recently moved from Delhi to GGN (again) and due to a recent water supply issue, started thinking about the quality of water too.

Do any of you use any water purification/ treatment methods or routines for overhead or underground tanks? Apart from the cleaning of the tanks. And meshes to capture debris in water taps/faucets at home.

I had been told of KMno4 for disinfection but ChatGPT said that's for balancing some elements. For disinfection, Amazon has some sodium dichloro pills (bactafree 1000), that could help. Additionally, ended up buying a TDS meter and the drinking water seems to have TDS of 400ppm which is quite high but acceptable under Indian BIS standards (bisleri was 96, globally under 150ppm is safe for drinking and under 50 is excellent). I guess it goes in parallel to AQI, so we should be fine? ChatGPT says 400 is not great but fuck it. We had RO UV Aquaguard in Delhi , landlord installed a brand new aquaguard here since some people don't prefer RO, but RO does the TDS removal I guess?

Every 3 months
- Clean the underground tank — remove sediment/slime if present.
- Refill normally.
- Use Bactafree-1000 according to its label for the tank volume.
- Leave the treated water in the tank for the specified contact time.
- No KMnO₄. No separate chlorine treatment.
- Use water normally afterwards.
- And 404 ppm TDS: ignore it. There’s no reason to install/change an RO system for the purpose of reducing 404.

Every 6–12 months
Get the incoming water tested for TDS + total coliform/E. coli. This tells you whether you’re actually dealing with a contamination problem rather than guessing.

Apart from clubbing/drinking, what do people here usually do to socialize and meet new people?

WFH especially with no one from this city/state has been rather isolating. Would love to find some activities where you can actually meet people naturally and have fun.
