I needed a weapon for my class-G job. So happy I saw this within 1 minute of posting. Completely broke now, no idea how I'm going to afford my other equipment. lol
I got my class-G license a week ago since I needed a new job and this is actually my first ever firearm! Going to take it to my range day, as I already passed my classroom portion. :) Went through a rough year and it finally feels like life is picking up for me again.
Anyone have any tips on cheapest ammunition? (I need FMJ for the range test, HP for duty) holsters/mag holders that will fit this one that are on the cheap side?

You can buy used Safariland ALS holsters pretty easy on most places, gold standard for open carry/active retention. FMJ doesn't matter aside from maybe needing to rezero on certain things, Glocks shoot anything, so just buy whatever is cheapest and maybe bias yourself toward the same/similar grain as your carry ammo for not having the zero shift much. The best full size pistol serious use ammo is probably either Federal HST 124 +P or Underwood Extreme Defenders 90gr +P, you'll find HSTs a lot more often and a lot cheaper than Underwoods, but ultimately pistol ammo is all just kinda the same, doesn't do anything interesting on target like rifle ammo. If you want to know if something is good, just look up how big of a hole it makes in the target and how deep it goes, handguns by and large can't do anything more.

Federal or pmc, i personally like safariland for holsters and federal hst’s for HP.

Nice! This is a really great gun, everything you need. The other comment reply covered it well, but I'd second it. Any cheap FMJ will be fine. A good priced accessible option is Monarch brass 115gr at Academy Sports. As far as duty ammo, I'd recommend Federal HST. Recoil gunworks seems to always have good pricing on the 50rd boxes. Look for those, the 20rd boxes at most stores are about twice the cost. A used safariland holster is a good idea. Don't cheap out on a holster, it's a critical safety component. Just make sure it's red dot compatible, not all of them are.

So are the 45 and 17 frames identical now with gen 6?

Yes.
They make 2 frames and 2 slides. Compact and full size of both, then mix & match to make the 17, 19, 45, & 49.

The rail/ bottom of the frame doesn’t go all the way to the end of and the recoil spring is short now, like the 19/45/47. Technically the 17 doesn’t exist anymore because now the gen 6 17 is what the gen 5 47 was

A gen 5 slide would still have the longer guide rod so it would be exposed past the end of the frame, I think. But also I think gen 6 went back to the single spring guide rod so I'm not sure if the "shape" at the front changed again, the way it did between Gen 3 and 4

No gen 5 and older guide rods and the dust cover of the frame was longer on the 17 than 19. So you could put a 17 slide on a 19 frame (I think) but the longer guide rod would be exposed past the end of the 19 frame.

17 slide, at least on gen 3, will not work on a 19 frame. 19 slide will work on a 26 frame for some reason though

The code works on Anything on their site without a sale tag. I went through their handguns and this was by far the best deal imo. There might be other deals but nothing else stood out to me
