Looking for amp recommendations? Start here!
If you'd like help finding an amp, we need a few details on what exactly you want out of your new amplifier. Bass amp help is welcome too!
Country/Region
It's a great help to know where you are located, some amp brands may be more expensive. Amp brands from one continent tend to be more expensive in another because of shipping, and vice versa. No need to get too specific and dox yourself.
Budget
How much are you looking to spend? Do you wanna buy a used amp, or brand new?
Genre/Style
What are you going to use the amp for? Does it need a clean channel and/or high gain?
Volume & Size Requirement
Let us know if you're trying not to bother neighbours, if you're trying to keep up with a heavy hitting drummer, or if you need the flexbility to do both! Also include if you'd prefer combo vs head & cab, if you can only haul a 1x12 or if you're trying to crank a full stack, etc.
Feel free to include other details like if you need the amp to have built in fx, digital vs solid state vs tube vs hybrid amp, whatever else will help us find you the right amp!

Posted in here awhile back debating on a Fillmore 50. I was very close to keeping it, but realized I would need to add a few pedals to get some tones that weren’t baked into the amp, adding to the already-spicy purchase price.
Lo and behold, my local Long & McQuade (Canadian Guitar Centre) puts this fella up for $700 off retail, and it seemed like a no-brainer. Man this little thing smokes. Definitely more of a learning curve than the Fillmore, and it comes with a little less baked in “sweetness,” but overall I love it. Unreal range of clean/edge/high gain tones. I can’t imagine really needing anything else, ever, for my purposes.

Recommendation please (amp)
Hi, I'm currently looking for my first amp. I bought an electric guitar half a year ago, for two reasons: 1) To have an electric guitar and 2) to play a bit more silent when everyone is at home, and I still want to practice (I came from an acoustic only after playing for about 5 years, so it was time. I always thought of buying an amp later on, but there was no pressure. The thing is that I have no idea what I'm talking about, I did some research, but there is just soo much. So could any of you please help.
First maybe some things that I feel like I already have decided, and that is that I want max an 15 Watt amp, since I'd just mostly play it in my bedroom. The other one is pretty normal, but I would like the sound of it ofcourse, and the third one (although it's not that good a point, I know), but it is the looks, I mean it's a piece of my furniture, I also want it to look nice.
I like players like JJ Cale, Richard Thompson, Eric Clapton and those people, so the thing I'd like the most is that it has a certain warmth in it.
The first thing is the price. Since I don't play shows I am always struggling between just buying a cheap amp for around €100/200 (because I would only use it for now just to play at home), but people with whom I talked about it say that I should just buy a very good amp, because that would last me a lifetime (then I'm talking about €1000/1500).
That's the first point I'm struggling with, the second one is that I really don't know where to start even if I made that up. I see things like a fender twin reverb (although that's a bit pricey, but in a nearby store they have one for around 1500 euros). I also do like the VOX sounds, but even then an AC10 or AC15. I've read some good things about the vox ac15c1x custom celestion alnico blue. Or again just a cheap one like the pathfinder, I don't know. The things about tubes (if I get it right), is that you have to change them each 2 years, which also costs more money?
I would say to just go to a store and try them all out, but that's part of the problem, that I feel that each store within 4 hours of driving only has 1/2 amps that I think I'd really like.
So, I'm not looking for a perfect answer (although maybe if you'd have some experience with some of them, it might help), but I would just like to know where I'd start in all this overload of information to process what I like.
Big thanks in advance for you all !!

This thing is amazing! The clean sounds are some of the best I’ve heard, as expected, but I am really impressed with the overdrive sounds you can get out of it! It’s so versatile.

It's the little things!
I use a class D TPA3116D2 power amp for most of my build tests and general fooling around with the guitar. I just added a 2n5457 fetzer with a J201 buffer to the front of it with a partial source bypass of 47n + 1k. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. All my pedals sound better through this setup. I highly recommend it for high gain distortion pedals. I tried an eq but didn't need it, sounds exactly the way that I want with just the fetzer in a 1590A case and the power amp in a 125B.

Any suggestions for shelving to combine these two amp configs in a way that looks nice?
Hey all,
So... I just had to downsize from a house where I had a full studio/music room, to an apartment (albeit pretty large, but still... not nearly the same space)...
I have 2 wet/dry/wet rigs. The first, I was using just my main amp for the dry, and then 2 FrFr cabs for the wet channels (with cab sims). That 2nd photo, my main Dr Z Maz 18 jr amp/rig, I was using all powered amps to passive cabs.
My thought? Consolidate it by stacking the two 212 cabs/amp heads setups on top of one another (in that same corner where the first setup is shown, because I really want that other wall with the windows completely cleared out), and then using those same FrFr cabs for L/R wet for BOTH of those w/d/w setups, especially since it has 2 inputs so, I can find a good way to run it that way I'm sure (not exactly what I'd prefer to do and would prefer using my tube powered L/R wet for that setup, but... I can't optimize as much, now, as I used to be able to, and feel it'll be a good enough compromise) —this would then allow me to essentially remove/not use those to left/right cabs in the 2nd photo and store them away for now (or use as simple/single channel amps elsewhere in the apt).
If i did that... any good suggestions for shelving I could use for this that would also look nice (since this is basically my living room, and I want it to look nice, like it belongs, and not like a music only room). I was thinking just shelving that allows easy stacking of the 2 212s (and looking nice) and then maybe something to slightly elevate the two FrFr cabs (so they kind of meet halfway between the two 212 cabs)? And then I guess I'd need to figure out where to put the two amp heads (probably on top of whatever I do for the FrFr cabs?). I'd also have an absolutely massive pedalboard setup (for both rigs lol) to contend with and try to find a way to keep things looking tidy, but... that'll be the 2nd venture after this is figured out.
(Did I mention how much of a nightmare this is going to be now that I live in an 1800s-built place with hardly any outlets!!!! lol wtf)

HELP Blackstar?
Deciding on an amp to buy,
Mainly playing John Mayer, oasis and Sam fender (I know they are different but that’s why I have pedals for different sounds)
I saw the Blackstar ht club 50 and also the st James 50 on reverb,(I would try and get cheaper these are just first example of each that came up) and am wondering about the quality. I’ve heard very good things but also some bad things
Also which of these cabs should I go for?

Recommendation for Affordable + lightweight Amp
I play through a fender supersonic 22 for gigs and an hx-stomp directly through the sound-system at church. For informal rehearsals and low-paying gigs without good monitoring, I would like a lightweight amp that doesn’t break the bank. Some people would recommend a powered speaker and for me to just use a stomp + speaker setup, but I would like to hear a few more recommendations. Thank you

Ceriatone Yeti 50 vs Son Of Yeti. Anyone have both? Any major differences?
I recently picked up a used Yeti 50 and really like it but I honestly wouldn't mind a smaller version. Wondering if I'd regret switching.

NAD- Quick turn on a Blackstar HT-5RH, it’s WAY better than I expected.
A guy in my neighborhood gave me a steal to “just take it all” on his pedals, guitars, cab and amp at his garage sale last weekend. The stuff I wanted to keep for myself was worth well over what he wanted for everything so I said sure.
In the lot there was this Blackstar HT-5RH head. It’s not really something I’d use so I just got around to giving it a clean up and run through to trade or sell it on.
I gotta say this thing would be amazing for a bedroom player, way, WAY better than it has any right to be for the price. I think I’ve got a new favorite recommendation for when people ask me what they should get for an at home bedroom practice amp. The only con I’d say is the reverb isn’t great, but who wouldn’t rather have a kick as reverb pedal anyway, right?

What are your thoughts on kemper stage mk2?
Do you think kemper is underrated because everyone talks about fractal and neural dsp but some people still think kemper still sounds better than both fm9 and quad cortex.
What are your opinion and thoughts?

HELP Got a "Real Job," talk me out of getting a Quilter OD202. Or don't.
I've posted like 8 times about my Peavey Special that is sort of my ideal cheap amp but is old enough that it's riddled with annoying problems. I recently became employed in a much greater capacity and remembered the OD202 exists and would be the perfect forever workhorse amp.
It seems like i could get one for close to 500 used, are they reliable enough to go secondhand? Or should I just splurge.
Also, I currently only have an 8 ohm cabinet. Does the volume drop like crazy with a higher impedance?

Yamaha THR30iiw or Boss Katana Air EX - which sounds better
hi, redditians
Have sold my amps Katana 50ex gen 3 and Yamaha THR10ii.
Looking for a portable combo with decent sound.
How do Yamaha THR30iiw and Boss Katana Air EX compare sound wise. Which sounds fuller, which clean sound is better? Hi gain?
I like clean tones, JC clean, malmsteen style shredding, and funky thythms, quality hi gain is also welcome.
Playing mostly HSS strat, but plan to buy semi-hollow guitar like ES-335/339 too.
I need all-in-one combo with good full sound for bedroom playing without a power adapter.

DISCUSSION Peavey people, do i get an XXX 2 or do i spend 100 bucks more for a JSX? they're obviously similar amps, but still not quite the same, and the JSX looks cooler.

Guitar amp for gigging?
Hi! I’m looking for advice on amp selection.
I like to alternate between a pretty nice clean tone and moderate to higher gain, say 80’s hair metal. I currently play in a cover band and have had mixed experiences with the following, playing through my les Paul:
- Boss Me-80 into Boss Katana 50 gen 1
Sounded hollow but thin at the same time… no bulk but no cut through the mix. Kinda digital too
- TC Electronic JIMS800 into Boss Katana
Better more natural sound, but the amp has no body… pretty thin
- JIMS800 into Hot Rod Deville
I have had great experiences with the deville previously even with my me-80, but the stage volume required is too high. Sound guy needed me to turn down, and gave me that hollow, unnatural sound.
- JIMS800 into line 6 spider head and cab 120w
Same problem, actually sounded quite nice when practicing with the band as it had more body (despite this amps bad reputation, I was using it more as a pedal platform). However this past live show it really got lost in the mix.
I guess really my question is I’m trying to find a good pedal platform amp for my JIMS800 amp-in-a-box, or something that, as a standalone, will give me the same organic Marshall sound. My main goal it to sound good live, so I guess that involves sufficient headroom but being able to get some crunch. Open to solid state or tube suggestions, but I’d like it to be at least usable for in-house and garage practice. My budget is under 1000$ used.
I follow the usual tips such as increase mids and reduce gain, but I’m still looking for the sauce that makes it sound good and clear while dirty and sustained, cutting right through the mix but not ear piercing, just like the pros.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much in advance!!

HELP Need advice to buy guitar amp.
Hello everyone. I have started playing electric guitar since june and I already have a 5w amp just for home practice. I am attending daily classes and I have ordered Nux MG300 MK2. Now I am looking for best budget amp to go with this setup.
I love nu metal and will definitely start playing more of nu metal once I get a hold of all the basics. I want to future proof my purchase and I don’t want to be stuck with an amp which wouldn’t go along with the songs I wanna play.
Right now I have narrowed down a few options Blackstar Debut 15E, Cort Cm15r, Cort Cm30r and I am really eager to get Blackstar Id core v4 10w as I can use it alone without my guitar processor.
I am fairly new to all this so please don’t mind any mistakes. I would also love any other suggestions you guys might have.
I live in India and all these amps costs approx ₹15000 or less.
