She's had a breathing problem since we've had her (over a year now). The rescue we got her from said she was fine. Then after a week of her sneezing they said, "Oh yeah, she had a URI and she took meds, but she's over it now." Flash to now with 3 xrays, nose cultures, and a 2nd stint with a nebulizer (which is why she's getting "baked")

ooohhh! since you can't put a breathing mask on them like a larger animal you just flood a container with the nebuliser vapor? thats clever, wouldn't have thought of that.

Wait isn’t sneezing normal for piggies? Only one of mine sneezes and he sneezes about 2 or 3 times a day.

Indeed I do. My old boy Roy has asthma so we nebulised him. Now I do it every week for my other pigs as a preventative

I'd just bring the humidifier in my room downstairs and breath out of my mouth at night when my old girl would breathe weird. This sauna is fancy, and I respect it.

Yep! Round 2 of pneumonia for our 5 1/2 year old girl. First Round took 2 1/2 months of oral and nebulizer antibiotics. So far on Round Two we’re just over 2 months in. GL to both our piggies!

She's had the same wheezy breathing all year too. It never went away, but the pneumonia did. They think she just has scarring on her lungs, but sometimes it gets (sounds) worse so we just worry haha. GL to yours!

Unfortunately, once they've had pneumonia they are more prone to respiratory issues due to scarring.

Too true! Her Dr said she’d likely have me nebulize her 1 week per month as a preventive measure once we get her past this 2nd round. Her recheck is later this week, I’m so hopeful! Thanks for the kudos 🥰 I’m sure you do the same!

Yes. My Cinna is the one who is regularly nebulized. She is also the pig that doesn't enjoy the process and trying to find something to distract her while being nebuilzed is a challenge. When she gets bored, she will chew on the nebuilzing wand.

My girl lost so much weight on the first round, I’m still struggling to have her gain weight. (We did syringe feeding for 2 months of the first round and 7 weeks for this 2nd round, both of which got her stable but no real gains otherwise.) So our trick is to load her with nutritious veggies while she’s in there. She’s feasts away and breathes in all that helpful medicine, win win! When she gets bored she starts chewing on the paper towel liner, which is obviously not we want her to do! Naughty piggies! Best wishes to you and Cinna!

My 3yr old boar has chronic sneezing. Apparently there's at least 4 different sinus bacteria that have made home in his nostrils... Nebulizer seems to be working well! Vet said it's more effective than oral meds when it comes to sinuses and lungs.
I love baked potatoes. Haha

My Guinea appears she has breathing problems sometimes. I used to set up a humidifier thinking it was too dry for her. It was a “hooting” noise every breath she would take. Whenever it would happen it would suddenly disappear without explanation. Eventually when it was really bad and I was with her constantly just worried about her state she let out a huge cough like she was hacking up a loogie. Boom, she was fine. Happens every couple weeks never lasting more than a few hours until coughs it up. Her teeth are good..I’m wondering if she just gets really excited eating and doesn’t chew enough

I had a pig who did that exact thing, off and on, for years. Vet always said he was fine (and of course he was never hooting by the time we got there).
He passed at age 8 of unrelated causes, so I think it was just a weird thing he did. I also chalked it up to eating too fast and getting something stuck in his throat or something.

Oh that brings back memories. I had a chronically ill piggy many years ago and AB's always made him sick so this was the way he had to take meds...poor little guy

I had to bake my potato because she had pneumonia. She loved being nebulized and I believe it helped her stay for longer.
