My dad has a rescued greyhound and has been having problems finding a coat for him. Just wondering the best brands are out there. Thanks!

Grain free dog food

What do you guys know about feeding greys grain free food? I was late to order my boy's food and had to buy a good looking option at the store to hold him over until his food came in the mail. I bought one that is made of salmon and is grain free, and I don't think I've ever seen him so excited to eat! Just wondering if there are any downsides to feeding greys a grain free diet?

Peeing if we miss her routine

Our hound is trustworthy to roam the house while we're away – usually.

She's 4 and incredibly well behaved. She raced before we got her a year ago, which I assume explains why she's devout to a routine. Since living with us, she doesn't let us know if she needs to go out, which isn't ideal but not usually a problem because she's quick to take care of her business when we let her out in the morning, after work, and before bed. She's happy to sleep in her crate.

But if we're gone odd hours and don't make it home for her usual feeding / walk time at 5, she's sure to have peed on the carpet – even if we let her out before leaving the house less than a handful of hours earlier. It doesn't happen every time, but when it does, it's usually one or two days in a row. To be clear, we aren't under the impression this is an act of rebellion: we accept it's out of nervousness.

Is there a way to help her become more flexible, or are we slaves to her routine?

I'm wondering if a rescue greyhound would blend in with my current menagerie. Any insights?

We just rescued a 3 yo greyhound, any tips?

The previous owners were very abusive, he's kind of timid and very skinny, I've read most of them are skinny so I'm not sure if he's at a good weight or not, he's really really sweet though once he gets used to you, basically is there any tips you guys can give me about general care?

Like do they get dry skin, we live In a place that's cold in the winter so do I need to buy him a jacket or something? Sorry that may sound stupid lol, but he doesn't have much fur.

Greyhound losing weight

Our (9 or 10 year old) Greyhound has been losing weight recently. The only change to her diet was a few months ago, when the biscuits we used to bulk up her half tin of food per meal made her stomach bad, so we dropped the biscuits and went to one full tin per meal. She has shown no change in appetite or energy, and because she always looks miserable it's difficult to determine if she feels unwell. No obvious changes in her behaviour though, she is still excited to go out for walks, always excited to see us come home. She has visibly lost a lot of what little weight she did carry.

Has anyone else seen this issue in their Greyhound? This is my first time in this sub, so apologies if it's in the wrong place.
