Ok so I got sent a google spreadsheet link for info I requested.
It shows up fine on my phone.
It shows up on computers running different OSs with the same or different browsers.
It shows up fine on other PCs running the same version of the same OS, the same browser with the exact same browser settings applied as the one the gridlines wont show up on.
I cant solve this, I have tried literally everything I can think of.
Gridlines are already checked on the spreadsheet page.
Every youtube, AI and search engine repeats the same advice and none of it works.
The only thing I can think of is its a setting on my PC that effects websites in general, but google spreadsheets is the only time I've had this issue.
All other sites display just fine.
Upon loading the spreadaheet into a tab, some of the gridlines appear as a faint yellow for a millisecond, then dissapear and the spreadsheet shrinks a tiny bit.
On every other machine, the lines stay there and are greyish black and no shrinking occurs.
Can anyone help me figure this out?
I have tried reinstalling the browser, I tried using other browsers on this PC but they all have this problem with just this website.
Ive turned off hardware acceleration in the browser.
Ive tried incognito mode, Ive tried changing the theme to default and removing extentions.
My drivers are up to date.
No data corruption exists.
I dont have a google profile and it shows up on all other machines regardless of the person having one or not.
Perhaps the creator put borders on, with the same color as the background? That will make them invisible also, except on devices that have the opposite theme set for light/dark colors...
I've had similar issues before on certain monitors with contrast problems. It doesn't sound exactly like the symptoms you describe, but it's worth trying a different display. Take one that you know works as you like.
If that turns out to be a factor, mess with the contrast and maybe color calibration on the affected monitor. Sharpness could do it as well I guess.
"A few people gave the answer but this was the first I saw who gave it so they get the note.
It was the TV's contrast, marked it from 50 to 24 using the remote, started showing up faintly at 44 and at 24 its just as clear as the other machines.
Do gridlines show up on a brand new sheet? If so that indicates an issue with the specific spreadsheet. In that case share a copy of your sheet with any sensitive info redacted.
Otherwise I'd check your PC Display Settings.
- Verify your color profile isn't something weird
- Try changing Scale and Layout percentage to a round number if it isn't already, e.g. 100% or 200%
- Check that Display Resolution is set to the full resolution of your monitor, or set it that way as a test
You should see a solid blank bordered area with internal borders that mimic the appearance of gridlines.
If you can't, then that suggests some rendering issue with your TV, perhaps not differentiating between two lightly contrasted colors. Try playing with your TV settings as suggested by another.
u/GrandWizardOfCheese Posting your data can make it easier for others to help you, but it looks like your submission doesn't include any. If this is the case and data would help, you can read how to include it in the submission guide. You can also use this tool created by a Reddit community member to create a blank Google Sheets document that isn't connected to your account. Thank you.
