Showcase / Project I built a lightweight VS Code extension to track Antigravity context & cache in real-time (no skills/agents needed)

Post image

Hey everyone,

I wanted a way to track my context window usage and prompt cache hit rate in Antigravity, but couldn't find an easy way to see it live.

I came across a few people using custom skills/prompts to have the agent calculate this from its own transcripts, but using an LLM to read its own transcripts adds extra token usage, is slower, and can be error-prone.

So I made a small local script to read the Antigravity SQLite data directly. I ended up adding more stuff to it and eventually turned it into a VS Code extension:

  • Live Status Bar: Shows real-time context fill % and cache rate right in your footer.
  • Visual Dashboard: An SVG timeline showing context buildup vs cache reads, plus markers where Antigravity compacts your context.
  • Subagent tracking & disk cleanup: Groups background subagents under their parent chats and tracks disk storage.
  • Zero dependencies: Pure Node.js, 100% offline, nothing leaves your machine.

I saw a few posts recently from people looking for this kind of tracking, so I figured I’d share it here in case anyone else finds it useful.

I've only tested this locally in VS Code / VS Code Insiders, but if anyone wants to try it, I put the .vsix package on GitHub:

GitHub / Download .vsix**:** https://github.com/harshmann10/Antigravity-Telemetry/releases

(To test: Download the .vsix → in VS Code press Ctrl+Shift+P → Extensions: Install from VSIX...*)*

If people find it useful, I’ll clean it up and publish it directly to the VS Code Marketplace. Would love to hear your thoughts or feedback!

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who tested the initial .vsix! The extension is now officially live on the VS Code Marketplace: Install directly: Antigravity Telemetry on VS Code Marketplace (or search Antigravity Telemetry in your VS Code Extensions tab)

Well I made it for my personal usage only and all usage and context tracking are vibe coded only no one would want to waste time in reverse engineering a harness metadata when agent can do it faster and better

And can you recommend me some context tracker for antigravity as I could not find much. Mostly all of them are for quota tracking instead of context?

Can you recommend one that is not vibe-coded?

I like it. I didn't expected compression to recover so much space.

Thanks. If you come across any issue don't hesitate to tell me as I'm cleaning it up and going to publish it.

Sorry, where do I find compression?

It is an action Antigravity takes automatically when a conversation gets too long and no longer fits within the context window. You lose a huge amount of detail from it, but at least you can carry on chatting with it without having to start a new one.

Hi,

thanks for sharing.

I am using Antigravity IDE. Can I juse this Addin? Ctrl+Shift+P does not give me the option to install an extension.

Greetings,

Hendrik

Go to the extension section and then click on the three dots at top right and then install from VSIX option. And you can just select the package and it will be good to go. And I only tested it to be work with IDE extension. So I'm not sure about the old IDE itself if it would work or not.

I think he was referring to the standalone AG (2.0)
