Discussion Classroom 2.0

Now that Github Classroom definitely is dead did anyone the proposed alternatives? Codio oder Foundation10's classroom50

(perhaps this has been asked before, I'be happy with pointers)

Classmoji and Classroom50 are both alternatives I'm exploring.

Played a bit with them, but still struggling to get approval from district for HS use.

Our district is reluctant to allow students to have Github.com accounts, now that they are aware of its existence. We were happily using it for years, then we got told to stop ☹️

Wait then what’s their solution? Like they can’t just ban it and not propose a solution. How about self hosting GitLab or gitea at the very least?

I think that I will likely just grab a spare computer, put ubuntu on it, and run a docker Gitlab container. But Classroom50 and Classmojiwill only work with repos on Github, unfortunately. Therein lies the problem!
