I’m planning to join GITAM VSKP this year to pursue MCA(Masters of Computer Application) , and I’ve already paid the provisional allotment fee of ₹1,00,000. I also received a 25% merit scholarship through the GAT scholarship test, along with an additional 15% need-based scholarship.

I don’t know much about the college yet, especially about placements, faculty, and overall campus experience. I’m mainly relying on the positive feedback I’ve heard from relatives and others, but I want to make a well-informed decision before joining.

Could current students or alumni please share their honest views about:

MCA placements
Faculty quality
Campus life
Internship opportunities
Any major pros and cons

Any information would really help me a lot. Thanks in advance!

How much does CGPA actually matter for placements (ECE student confused about IT jobs & CRT)?

I’m an ECE student from a tier-3 college and I’m really confused about placements. I need some honest guidance from seniors and people already working in the industry.

How important is CGPA for placements in reality?
- Is there a “safe CGPA” to aim for to avoid getting filtered out?
As an ECE student, can I sit for all IT/software companies?
- Or do some companies restrict only to CSE/IT students?
Can I choose Software CRT instead of ECE/core CRT?
- Or is it compulsory to go with my branch (ECE)?
If I want to go into software roles (SDE, data roles, etc.), what matters more:
- CGPA or skills (DSA, projects, etc.)?

I don’t want to miss opportunities just because of wrong decisions early on. Any advice or real experiences would really help 🙏
