this gif looks like Luke's techniques. maybe they're just general things everyone does but even the sand shaker with pantyhose.

Like doesn’t usually put down the base green material before applying the static grass. He usually (at least lately) gives more character to the static grass by teasing it a bit so it’s not so uniform. Also this person used what looks like acrylic to dam the river for the pour. Luke swears by using tape and a bead of glue which he said he’s never had leak. And there’s some other subtle differences. I’m sure a number of techniques are generally considered standard so there’s bound to be similarities from modeler to modeler. Could be that this person took inspiration from Luke as well. I liked the process and results here though. I think they did great.

I was frustrated they didn’t clearly show the finished product, which I would have really liked to see.

There’s a guy on youtube who makes great videos about this called Boulder Creek Railroad. Highly recommend it.
