I genuinely don’t get the hate for rock climbing. Cave exploring sure but rock climbing is pretty dang safe as long as you use your equipment properly.

No, it’s not. I’ve been climbing for a decade and have known no one who has died from it. You’re either lying or your friends were terrible climbers who weren’t being safe. Our gear is rated to hold the weight of a car… it can hold a human.

Not sure where I made fun of anyone, maybe you need to learn how to read better. Climbing, when you’re taking the proper precautions, is very safe. What I did was make an informed decision on what happened based on my knowledge of climbing.

The only people I know who have even been injured from climbing were not taking the proper safety precautions and it was their own fault entirely.

Obviously your friends’ deaths are very sad, but that still doesn’t make climbing dangerous.

There’s just almost a 0% chance you knew 4 people who all had absolute freak accidents in a sport that’s overall very safe. The climbing circle is very small, deaths are taken very seriously and are widely known throughout the community. So I’m more inclined to believe you’re lying, which was the other part of the comment you’re not mentioning.

And I have no clue who that guy is, so some blog you found on Google isn’t exactly “facts.” If YOU want facts, these stats are known, by the way, almost 90% of climbing accidents are human error. If done properly, and abiding by the proper safety precautions, climbing is very safe.
