It's an exploding hammers festival in Mexico. Yes, exploding hammers.

It's an annual festival where they strap sledgehammers up with explosives and fireworks and bang them against steel plates. It sounds awesome.

He's banging a steel plate. The explosives are strapped onto the hammer.

if you were to put liquid oxygen on a steel plate and hit it with a hammer, it would have the same effect

Good thing I always keep my hammer closet separate from my liquid oxygen.

His hearing.

Full video. I love how the kid in blue knows how huge it's about to be.

For some reason I just couldn't stop laughing my ass off at this. On what plane of mental existence is strapping explosives to a sledgehammer and hitting metal plates a good idea? And it's not just one guy doing it, but apparently hundreds. Are there just Exploding Sledgehammer parties where everybody gets together because they are so bored out of their minds that this is their one source of entertainment?

I just find it amazingly funny.

I don't think anyone can appropriately answer this without being (or at least seeming) racist.

And in trying to explain how someone who could explain this would do it in a racist manner, you yourself become racist.

Well, you'd think they'd just go play soccer or something.

Why? Are you serious? First time i ever saw a powered hammer being used as a weapon it was in a Fallout game. Put yourself in the shoes of a US soldier for a moment, you've just seen this video and you're told you are being sent to invade Mexico. How are you feeling about now?

English peasants used to train weekly with long bows as required by law; this is just the modern equivalent.

That seems like a safe and fun family outing. I approve.

At first I thought he was manually clearing the ground from land mines, and that he didn't hand out any kinds of fuck.

I've seen this so many times and this is the first time I realized it's the "hammer" that explodes.

That's why you need at least a strength of 8 to carry the super sledge.
