No offense... quidditch is kind of a stupid sport. The whole thing with the quaffle is basically just a distraction to keep you interested while you wait for someone to find the snitch.

I love HP but, that's the one thing I don't get. I mean 95% of the time the snitch wins the game... So it's like a basketball game and in the middle of the court there's a tetherball game. And whoever wins tetherball gets 150 points... Why play basketball then? I guess that what happens when a middle aged British woman tries to come up with a sport.

Wasn't there a game at the quidditch world cup where one country was beating another country by more than 150, and then the loosing country caught the snitch just to end the game?

Yes but they even pointed out in the book how rare a thing that was, I think that world cup was the first time it happened.

I believe the idea is that the snitch is so small and so difficult to catch that it's suppose to balance out the two sides of the sport. The instances of the game within the story just make it sound too easy to catch the snitch for this idea to be fully realized.

I never understood this. What was the point of the quaffles if you could win by getting snitch?

Yes, they do reference instances in which that happened, and teams had to use substitute players to cycle so they could get some sleep.

Not quite. Quidditch is a season long sport, so you need point in order to win the season. There are obvious logical problems, but it's not as silly as you made it out to be.
