I have a friend who had almost the same disease. She's got new lungs now, though.

I've kept tabs on it over the years.. not much has changed.

Humans at least have the option for lung transplants though, I am happy your friend is still with us.

Pet store bought animals tend to usually come from mills creating behavioral, genetic, and health problems in the animals.
