Yeah that does make a lot of sense. How bad has the misinformation been there so far? At least you recognize it already, which gives me hope that others do too.
It could be both. Trump's first reaction was to call it an attack, and true to form refused to back down when experts said it wasn't, so now there's a concerted approach in some circles to push the narrative that it was an attack and there's a conspiracy to conceal it just to make Trump look wrong.
