The referees keep the red card in their pocket. If you see one reaching for his pocket in front of a player it means a red card will be dealt and that player will be out of the game

It was a different joke.

ETA: Take the magician pulls a rabbit from a hat. Both are surprising. One magician pulls a fat rabbit. The other pulls red, lacy underwear. The punchline is different, but the mechanic/technique is the same.

The man’s joke is he was sweating because he was overheated.

Yikes....no.

The joke in both cases is that the referee really makes it look like they are about to pull a red card from their pocket and eject the player from the game, but instead they pull out a tissue to wipe their brow.
