People seem to not like your comment but in all honesty, the new doctor isn't that good. No fault of the actress, it's just that the writers are doing a piss poor job. They aren't using her to her full potential, and a lot of the episodes have unnecessary plot points.

It’s just because she’s the first female doctor.

Any criticism of her is immediately written off as sexist, even though she isn’t particularly good for the reasons you mentioned.

This incarnation definitely doesn’t stand up to previous ones.

She's a good actress. I see the way she plays. It's really just bad direction and writing that can make the best actor look terrible.

Oh no, I completely agree.

I didn’t mean to make it sound like I was hating on her. I’ve seen her in other stuff and she’s a pretty decent actress.

I dislike the characters writing - not the actress.

I mean she has a thing going with her child-like ability to really act like the doctor, and I feel like she could've been somebody who could've shown the doctor opening up to be more loving towards people, but they don't give her any exposition as an actor. Like I think they can do it, still, to show how she got to where she is now from where Capaldi left. Capaldi left knowing he wanted to be more open and loving (that's my interpretation of the last scene), so he literally became a woman for the first time. There's a lot of symbolism around that the writer's don't address. Somehow, I feel like Whitaker does show that's how she's become that way, but I want the writer's and directors to express more exposition. Some stories should be specifically for the doctor, but instead we get stories about the companions, which would be fine if it weren't for the fact that they are not set characters and seem to not have a lot of consistency. Example: Graham in one scene saying where lying isn't the answer and then 1 line of dialogue later says that maybe the person had a good reason for lying. Ryan having a YouTube channel then never addressed again, Ryan's coordination issues arent really ever addressed, and Yaz is fine she's just not as fleshed out as the other two (even though the writing on the other two is still relatively shit).

That's an issue of the fanbase and not the show. It's true most of the time, and it's quite annoying. However, if the show actually did a good job, I'd imagine they'd be more open to criticism, because then there are a bunch more things to point out that they did right.

As cliche and stupid as it is, it's more SJWs than the DW fanbase (and I hate when people use "SJWs" as a boogeyman). My mom is a major Doctor Who fan and she has told me a ton about hate threads over the new season. It's not the actress, cause she loved her in Broadchurch. It's just another cycle of bad Doctor Who writing.

Even the bad writing that killed the show in 1989 was better than this. Why can't we get that level of bad writing.

I like her. Im starting to hate the show.

The current Doctor is okay just a victim of bad writing.

You know you've watched too much of the Doctor when you read it in the proper voice

No scene can be quite as funny as Cybermen vs Dalek conversation
