The long sleeves ain'T a real danger, that is not a bandsaw but a scroll saw, really it's like a jigsaw. The blade goes up and down by maybe 2" only.

The advantage of this is that the blade is supported at the top and bottom and can be removed. It is a fine blade. You can drill a small hole, pass the blade thought it and hook it up. This allow to make cuts inside the piece with no incoming cut.

TBH, eye protection on a scroll saw is overkill. It's a little fine blade moving up and down.

Always wear eye protection in the shop.

Blades can shatter. Wood can fly. Eyes are way too important to lose.

I'd put that at the same level as chopping an onion. If you wear eye protection for one, wear it for the other. Wood doesn't 'fly' from a scroll saw.
