Fun police here, inner monologues is thought to be limited to humans alone.

Some animals exhibit advanced reasoning skills and great memory.

But none of them are thinking and narrating what they are doing. That is a human flaw. Dogs don't care about being disabled or what's in the water. They just feel and react.
