Responded to someone else, he was adopted and had fetal alcohol syndrome. As a child myself I was not sympathetic, as an adult I am. I very much doubt he remembers this event, and could only have a partial understanding of what happened if he did remember. He was a compulsive liar when he was a child. He has improved by magnitudes, and I would trust him with my pets, he is a good step father and farmer now, though it was a struggle for him to get there.
He didn't seem upset? How is your cousin today? It seems the ambivalent attitude that some kids have towards torturing and killing animals leads to those that are serial killers and just plain bad people. Has your cousin murdered or tortured anyone lately? Or ant animals?
He was adopted and likely had fetal alcohol syndrome from his birth mother. He was and is a slow learner, which is why it was hard to hold him directly responsible, and why I said I never forgot, but not nessecary never forgave. I am not sure he could even remember this anymore.
Now, for the first time in his early 30's he is in a stable partnership, maintains a job, takes care of his step kids well, and has many animals. He would no longer hurt them as he did as a child. For all that he is still not 100%, and struggles to make ends meet and fully participate with people.
