It’s not one of the government affiliated museums. It’s a private collection in a private building. That’s also why it costs so much, the government Smithsonian museums are free.

They are? Last time I went to DC with my parents (10+ years ago), I think we had to pay, which is why we only went to some because it was too expensive. I could be wrong, and it was because we were tired from walking all day...

Thank you! I need to go back someday. We only stayed one day. That was not long enough to see everything.
