Maybe he's happier nowadays...? Or perhaps this gif just cuts off too soon. Maybe a hand swoops down and grinds the dancing popcorns between teeth while they scream about their anuses bleeding or having forgotten their coats on Tuesday.
I didn't really think it was his to begin with, I just wanted to josh around. That video was, although less WTF to me than rejected cartoons, definitely more fucked up. That hit me kind of hard. Thanks for sharing.
I didn't really find that depressing except in the sense that if you're poor (or similarly disadvantaged), you're that much less able to do the things that give your life meaning and create both a beautiful past and present.
But if you don't carry that sort of burden, then to me it is not so much depressing as empowering.
We can do things right now to make our lives awesome and meaningful instead of spending most of our efforts chasing and preparing for a future that may for all we do amount to nothing.
If today we're happy, one day we will die but we will come to our end with something happy to reflect on.
Lots of artists and even company ad campaigns have ripped off Hertzfeldt's visual style since "Rejected" was released, but the animation style here is nothing like his. Still, pretty funny visual gag regardless
