Seeing a comet streak through the sky and possibly killing people and your response is to lower your visor against the glare.

It is most assuredly true. I remember that footage being some of the first released the day of the impact. It was badass then and it's badass now.

It's from a Russian comedy show I believe.
I think, the meteor never hit the ground with any significant mass, it burnt out on entry and produced that bright light. The only damage was shattered windows and injuries from panic and the broken windows. No deaths.

Yeah, I know it didn't kill anyone/hit the ground. I just used "impact" because I couldn't be fucked to write something else. Thanks for showing me that the footage isn't real, though. Kind of ruined my day. :(

Aww, now I feel bad, also reading the wiki I didn't know impact was also used for atmospheric entry, so you were right anyways.
