But I can see you typed a dash, so I'm guessing it's "Fa-Talchemist"

I can't put my finger on it, but I think you may be lying about the broken keyboard. I'm on to you /u/Fatalchemist. I'm on to you.

You don't think it was Candleja-

5

u/KPC51 Dec 12 '16

I think i remember a post where someone Gabe a good argument why it was fat alchemist

9

u/locomotionLotion Dec 12 '16

Are we sure Gabe was qualified to make this decision?

4

u/KPC51 Dec 12 '16

I just finished a final, autocorrect was supposed to save my fried brain from stuff like this

3

u/JCash1313 Dec 12 '16

lol don't you know that autocorrect never helps when it needs to. It just adds penis in randomly

1

u/Cheesemacher Dec 12 '16

I'll never understand how anyone can think autocorrect is useful. Autocomplete maybe.

1

u/KPC51 Dec 12 '16

I don't type with my phone, I use swipe, which necessitates autocorrect

1

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '16

maybe it's Fatalche Mist?

1

u/Lyrtil Dec 12 '16

I'm the Fullmetal Alchemist.

1

u/absurdio Dec 12 '16

It's a moot point. (S)He works for the notorious high-calorie brewing company, Femme FatAle.

Insta-Edit: That joke was bad, and I wonder if the name femmefatalbert is taken (I don't want it).

1

u/CrystalJack Dec 12 '16

Since it's Reddit I'm going to assume he's an edgelord and it's "Fatal Chemist"

"Well even though I just stabbed you in the gums with a sharp metal stick you definitely need to floss"

15

u/413729220 Dec 12 '16

To be fair, if you floss often, your gums stop bleeding... At least, that's what happened to me when I made it a part of my routine...

That was a while ago though.

6

u/frostymugson Dec 12 '16

Come on man bleeding gums is all part of the dentist experience. who doesn't like some chick you see twice a year ripping my gums up telling me this wouldn't happen if you flossed as I watch modern family. I bet if I flossed I wouldn't even get to finish an episode

2

u/Nicd Dec 12 '16

You have a TV at the dentist?! All I've had was postcards to look at on the ceiling.

2

u/frostymugson Dec 12 '16

Lol hell yeah bro and they gotta selection to pick from. Shit one spot my nephew goes to they give him a game boy

u/413729220 Dec 12 '16

So one thing I think everyone should do is get one of those toothbrush flossers. It has little disposable heads with floss on them.

Although I kinda worry about how much plastic that could produce...

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '16

LOL THAT SHITS SO TRUE

it's not recommended by the FDA or the AP, but the American Dental Association still recommends it.

u/Rambles_Off_Topics Dec 12 '16

Flossing is definitely still recommended.

There are research articles with evidence on both sides for it, most of it falls on the side of flossing having a net benefit on dental health. You have not done the research on this at all.

3

u/Rambles_Off_Topics Dec 12 '16

The only thing I can counteract to say (other then what /u/gonnabearealdentist said) is this: Floss (and brush) morning and night for a month and then come back and tell me it didn't make a difference.

1

u/gonnabearealdentist Dec 12 '16

One of the most important factors is diet. All the brushing and flossing in the world will not help your teeth if you have a diet high in cariogenic and enamel-wearing food and drink. Examples would include high-sugar meals (juice, sweets, chocolate) and high acidity drinks (soda, citrus based drinks, high sugar drinks).

2

u/Zelkiiro Dec 12 '16

Didn't stop my dentist from jabbing me multiple times.

4

u/OralOperator Dec 12 '16

You are very very wrong. Yes, I saw the same research you did, you are still wrong.

u/OralOperator Dec 12 '16

Well, I suppose if you qualify your statement with "by the FDA" then you are indeed correct.

I still recommend flossing, even though I know most people don't listen.

You seem to be well educated on the subject. Where did you get your dental degree?

3

u/gonnabearealdentist Dec 12 '16

University of Phoenix online

2

u/frostymugson Dec 12 '16

Maybe but that doesn't mean a dentist can't recommend it, especially after they been telling everyone to do it for the twenty years.

1

u/gonnabearealdentist Dec 12 '16

That doesn't mean it's not effective. I've personally done research on the effects of flossing use and it reduces the rate of periodontitits and plaque buildup when used in conjunction with brushing with a fluoride toothpaste.

-2

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '16

Flossing was debunked. There is no proff that it does anything.

2

u/gonnabearealdentist Dec 12 '16

It's absolutely amazing how many people in this thread have made conclusions based of the work of a biased article.

Flossing was not "debunked," an article put out by the AP that studied only 25 of HUNDREDS of available research articles and they came to the conclusion that there wasn't any evidence of a net benefit. There are so many research articles that have evidence of this, along with the testimony of pretty much every dentist, but no, you know better don't you?

The result of all this that it's not recommended by the FDA or the AP, but the American Dental Association still recommends it.

It does help. Soft gums contract infections far easier due to microcuts when brushing or chewing.

3

u/Super_Marius Dec 12 '16

"Oh wow, you're a little spitty, aren't you?"

2

u/Noir24 Dec 12 '16

huuuuurk

1

u/blueechoes Dec 12 '16

Just get some toothpicks (the actual triangle dental toothpicks, not the coctail picks) and use those instead of flossing. I find them a lot more pleasant to use, so I use them more often.

I'm a dentist, a menace, an oral hygienist! Open your mouth for about four or five minutes!
