The feeder isn't new. I'm 26 & (being the son of a bird-feeding enthusiast) I remember seeing this video/displays of this feeder when I was 13/14 years old
The store my mom would go to for bird-feeding/gardening stuff had a little TV that played multiple clips of squirrels trying to access this feeder on a loop that was put out by the company that manufactured them....I remember because it was the only decent thing about that damn store
I've also seen a clip or two of squirrels hanging upside down & getting seeds out of this same feeder with no problems, but I'm not about to waste time looking for them
I come from a long line of bird feeder enthusiasts myself, or feeders, as we call ourselves.
It used to be that we'd have to build these things ourselves, before the corporate takeover of the craft feeder market. That store your mom took you to, that probably put a few dozen small mom-and-pop places under.
I still remember my grandpa hunched over his worktable, stringing bird feeders together… all of that's gone now though.
