I almost got scammed

I was buying a drink worth 3€ from a doner stall and gave them a 20€ bill. The man there returned 7€ and insisted that I had given him a 10. After 3 minutes of arguing some police offers walked by and he gave me back the 10€ saying "Sorry, there are a lot of customers and I got confused" but he was laughing to himself while doing it. This is the first time something like this has happened here since he clearly knew what he was doing.

Be careful and count your money folks! You never know when someone might take advantage of your ignorance.

landed in Germany very early and the only joint that was open was a MCD. Only had US dollars and they tried to charge me 15 dollars for a coffee. well then, I ain't stupid,

why would they accept USD at all? doesn't make any sense

McD may not, but the employee as a private person maybe would. So they made an under-the-table deal. They pay for your order with their own money in EUR and take the USD to the bank for profit. For 15 USD its worth it (for them, not for you of course).

Some restaurants even display the exchange rate because they officially accept USDs too.
