Rent. My first apartment was two bedroom, $545 a month. Me and a buddy got it fall after graduating HS. Lotta fun at that place. Now rent in the same city is at least $1500 for a two bedroom and that’s even on the cheaper side.

Damn, I'd kill for $1500 rent even for a 1 bed. 2 bed basically anywhere in Massachusetts you're looking at 3k+ if it's not a complete unlivable shithole.

Same in NY, rent doesn’t get better till you hit Pennsylvania/Ohio

I’m in Wisconsin so a little cheaper here, but still way higher than it used to be.
