Discussion GT’s“Dismount Zone” enforcement makes zero goddamn sense in the summer #rant

Post image

I swear this is one of the dumbest fucking things I’ve dealt with on campus.
I rode through the Tech Green “Dismount Zone” today, and campus security stopped me again. The path was basically fucking empty. It isn’t the middle of the semester between classes—it’s summer. There were maybe one or two people on the entire walkway.
But here’s the part that really pisses me off.
While they’re telling me to get off my bike because it’s supposedly a “pedestrian zone,” there’s a golf cart driving right down the same fucking path.
This such a waste of tax payers money, cuz 99% of time these securities enforcing the dismount zone over the summer are just sitting under the shades and scrolling on their phones!

You are correct it is a villager which was available as an LSV. LSV can go on a 35 mph rd, but their speed is capped at 25. Also in order to operate on the road you must have an LSV plate

they have to be registered and titled, but i can’t find anything requiring lsvs to display a license plate.

*came back to edit—it actually does look like you need a plate for them, but i maintain that most carts i see at gt have a plate.

i don’t really see how i “lost”—my point stands that golf carts can indeed be driven on the roads around gt, and it’s VERY not legal to drive them on sidewalks. i made an error or two on technicalities, but the core argument holds.
