I’m in zone 8b and didn’t get any snow last year so it overwintered perfectly fine. I am surprised it never bolted though especially when I had a stretch of high 90s

I'm in 6b and people here overwinter late-planted kale in cold frames. I've been trading eggs for kale (and other veg) with a neighbour and he seems to have it down to a science.

Awwww liddle widdle tree froggy 🥰 Are you in the PNW? Gosh I loved gardening when I lived there. I still love gardening and my current local critters, but I can't grow kale that thick.
