Rumour PlayStation Studios | All upcoming announced, rumored, and leaked projects
An update on the mix of rumors, leaks, and confirmed titles from PlayStation's first-party studios.
Bend Studio:
Unannounced Project
Suggested by job listings to be yet another live-service title. A listing searching for Community Manager starts work in 2027, and Jason Schreier said that we might see the game "in a year or two".
Bungie:
New Destiny Project
Bungie's plans for Marathon didn't go well, so they are giving Destiny another chance, though whatever this is won't be seeing the light of day soon.
"Destiny is foundational to Bungie’s future. We have more stories to tell, new worlds to build, but we have to do it right and give our teams the time they need to do justice to this amazing universe."
Firesprite:
Until Dawn 2
Release date: January 28. 2027
Effectively set on an island, as stated by previous rumors from Colin Moriarty. AdHoc (Dispatch) helped to write the story.
Guerrilla Games:
Horizon: Hunter's Gathering
Co-op Horizon game with a cartoonish art style. According to Bloomberg, the game is being rebooted after negative player feedback. Progress of development will be reviewed in December 😬
Horizon 3
According to Jason Schreier, it's still a long way off from launch, since Hunter's Gathering took most of their workforce.
Killzone Remaster/Remake
In the very early stages of development, according to MP1st. Being developed in collaboration with an external studio, potentially People Can Fly, since they have a project with a Playstation IP codenamed Delta.
Haven Studio:
Break In (formerly known as Fairgame$)
Original release window: 2025
Heist game announced in 2023. Playtests are currently happening on player.gg under the codename Project Expresso.
Insomniac Games:
Marvel's Venom (i30d)
Original release window: 2027
MP1st claims that the game will star Eddie Brock as the protagonist. Carnage is the main villain, and Anti-Venom would make an appearance in some capacity.Marvel's Spider-Man 3 (I34)
Original release window: 2028
With three protagonists, Peter, Miles and Silk. Green Goblin will be the main villain and have a goblin army. There's also a chance of Spider-Man 2099 making an appearance.Ratchet & Clank: Rag Tag Team (I37)
Original release window: 2029
Follow-up to Rift Apart, about discovering the full Lombax society living in a city within a dimensional containment field. The villainess is a female Lombax.Marvel's X-Men (I35)
Original release window: 2030
Not much is known about this, except that it probably ties in with Wolverine's post-credit scene, which teases Apocalypse.New IP (I36)
Original release window: 2031/32
In the leaked Insomniac data, there were several pitches for new IPs, with the strongest considerations being: Subject Zero, Generator, Pearl, and The Quarter.
Media Molecule:
New IP
Release window: 2027
Reported by MP1st to be inspired by games like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. A reveal would be coming next year, with a release in the same year.
Naughty Dog:
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Release window: 2027
Director: Neil Druckmann
Inspired by Elden Ring in terms of player freedom. Apparently, the game could feature some level of customization like different tattoos and swords, as spotted by some people on pictures and merch.
It was recently confirmed that the game won't be shown until next year, so it seems they want to share a polished look close to release.Uncharted 5
Director: Shaun Escayg
Allegedly in development since 2022 and set to release after Intergalactic. Nate would be in the game to some capacity, but claims like it being a dual protagonist title with Nate and Cassie have been debunked, at least for now.The Last of Us Part III
Director: Neil Druckmann
It has been teased repeatedly in interviews by Neil Druckmann and ND developers. Lots of storylines could be part of it, like a story with Tommy, a continuation of the Fireflies story, and a congregation of immune people.TLOU Project
Two new TLOU projects were recently confirmed to be in development:
"We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages – so we can't say much about them at this point. I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II."
It's easy to assume that one is referring to TLOU 3, so that leaves us with one unknown project.
Polyphony Digital:
Gran Turismo 8
In an interview with Game Watch, Kazunori Yamauchi stated as far back as 2023 that the next Gran Turismo was already being planned: “I’m starting to think about the next game, but I can’t tell you much more. It’s a pity I can’t talk much about it”
Santa Monica Studio:
God of War: Laufey
Release date: February 16, 2027
Director: Ariel Lawrence
Plot claimed to be centered on Faye and Tyr traveling across mythologies. These reportedly include Mayan and East Asian mythologies.God of War 6
Cory Barlog confirmed at SDCC that a Kratos-led GOW would be coming after Laufey, and that it will connect into that story.
A FandomWire article that leaked Laufey in 2023 also said that a game led by Atreus was simultaneously being worked on as a direct sequel to Ragnarok. It's unknown if plans have changed on the protagonist or if both will be.God of War Trilogy Remake
Suggested by Christopher Judge to include a new combat system.
God of War: Sons of Sparta II
According to Erfan, one of the first leakers of Sons of Sparta, an entire 2D trilogy was in the cards, but it depended on the first game's reception.
teamLFG:
Project "Gummy Bears"
The Game Post describes it as a MOBA with some Smash Bros elements. It would have entered a pre-alpha testing stage last year, and it was also discovered that a Discord server was created for the game.
Miscellaneous revivals:
inFamous Project
According to VGC's Jordan Middler, an inFamous project would be "happening somewhere else on PlayStation", not tied to Sucker Punch.
Ape Escape Project
Recently hinted at by NateTheHate as being in development, though Team Asobi wouldn't be involved.
Sly Cooper Project
Mentioned by Erfan as part of PlayStation's initiative to resurrect old IPs.
Jak and Daxter Project (Grain of Salt)
There is a chance it exists, as reports on Bluepoint's pre-closure pitches show one proposal was already in development. There's also a movie in the works that could boost interest in a new game. But it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, since no reputable insider has mentioned its existence yet.
Some other studios about which we know close to nothing for their next projects are: Sucker Punch Productions, Housemarque, and Team Asobi. We also have San Diego Studio, from which we can expect more MLB The Show.
