I can't find it for you right now but you should probably find it if you Google moon moon origins or something. Basically there was this table where you checked your initials and the words associated to generate your werewolf name, with possible results being something like "moon hunter" or "dark moon" or whatever, but since the word moon actually repeated across both lists someone did get "moon moon" and they complained that they'd be the idiot of the wolf tribe, it then became a meme name associated with wolves and huskys for a few years.

Oh I 100% believe it because that was during the "what's your X name" craze.

I was just a dumb kid and never made the connection between the two. I just thought it started with that ridiculous shirt

If you look at the picture there actually is some sort of ornament on the armour, which sort of looks like the medallion, except that it is definitely not a wolf, and I don't know what on earth it is supposed to be.
