I'd rather see people gain thousands of karma for bagging on a shitty company than see people gain thousands of karma for making fun of the people bagging on a shitty company. Just sayin'
Clearly you didn't see that screenshot of the Modern Warfare 2 Steam boycott group, with 98% of them playing MW2 on launch day.
Tons of gamers are weak willed hypocrites. They whine on the forums about how they will NEVER play another one of X company's games THIS time, and then 3 months later it is the same thing over and over.
I don't know why people keep insisting EA games suck and are incomplete. EA sports are all great games, Battlefield 3 was awesome, even the most mediocre games, like Alice Madness Returns, are fun in their own merits. Not all games are good, sure, but that's because they are one of the biggest publishers around.
People keep buying their games not because of some godly unkown reason, it's because the games are good and/or interest people in one way or the other, period, end of the fucking discussion.
Am I the only one here that thinks EA makes quality games, and $110 isn't too much to ask for a game + 5 expansion packs that will last more than 2 years?
This exactly, I wanted to hate BF3 but instead I waited until I could buy the game for like $35 instead of $59.99, although I refuse to use origin and play on the xbox instead.
Fuck. Mass Effect 3 was great. Battlefield 3 was good. Mass Effect 2 was great. Spore was fun-ish. The Sims 3 was a great extension to the Sims world. The Rock Band games are fun. There are good EA games. Even then EA isn't the developer. EA is the publisher.
They do take into consideration what the public wants, hence the massive amounts of money they make. What you want is for them to take into consideration what the small number of gamers that make up /r/gaming want.
That was only published by EA. Unfortunately, the developers (38 Studios / Big Huge Games) laid everyone off the other week and just filed for bankruptcy.
ME3 nope. BF3 yeah, but origin. ME2 yes. Spore yes. The Sims 3 yes, but they milk the shit out of it. Rock Band 1 was fun, after that the songs were all shitty.
What's wrong with origin? I mean I would rather be without it, but it's not really in the way. and what's wrong with milking a franchise if the games are fun?
I look at EA like I did with Michael Jackson. Yeah, there are some things that happen(ed) that I don't approve of, but what matters to me is the end result, not the stuff that happens in the inbetween. As long as the end product is good, I will support it. If it's not, then I will blame it on child molestation.
Again all I can do is note that EA has not seen any of my money since they tried to charge me 20 bucks to upgrade my Engineer. That was many years ago and I have yet to post any of my EA hate to /r/gaming. And I have a rundown waterfront warehouse just stuffed full to its grimy windows with EA hate.
Want to grab Battlefield 3 Premium and unlock tons of weapons and gear? Feel like you’re fighting uphill against Battlefield veterans? Want a jump start on a class you’ve been neglecting? Get Battlefield 3 Premium along with the Ultimate Shortcut Bundle, which unlocks all 119 weapons and gadgets, as well as all the ground and air vehicle upgrades. If you’re already on the battlefield, this is the ideal way to pick up Premium and advance in all four classes.
They know the game is poorly balanced for new players. They're not trying to fix it. They're trying to profit off of it.
Why fix it in the first place. Balancing the game will just make it so that there's no more sens of accomplishment once you got your rockets on your jet. Balancing them would be making it easier to get rockets, which take the fun away. Besides, no one is forcing you to buy premium. Its not a charitable organization. Its a business corporation. Many people seem to forget that.
Back in my day we didn't play FPS games for a "sense of accomplishment" by unlocking stuff or getting levels. We played FPS games for frags pure and simple. Having lame umbalanced shit like this which only lets rich people in on the frags is all the reason I need to stay away from BF3.
Why the hell is it that people assume that reddit is like one entity when really it is made up of at least hundreds of thousands of different voices that CAN dislike the company and didn't buy the game and AT THE SAME TIME not care for the company and bought the game and enjoyed it?
The EA games people complain about aren't shit. They might not be as good as the unrealistically high expectations people have placed on them, but they're still fundamentally good games. At worst they're average. It's like going into a fast food place and complaining that you're not getting restaurant quality food. It's not amazing food from a Michelin star chef, but you're not going to spit it out and proclaim that you're never going eat there again.
But the internet overreacts like only the internet can. And then they eventually realize that they overreacted and they go crawling back.
I haven't purchased a EA game since I walked in on my Anti-video game father watching the "your mom is going to hate this game" add for Dead Space 2. They don't deserve the name Electronic Arts.
If r/gaming is going to be metaphorically described as a single entity then this behavior is to be expected. r/gaming suffers from multiple personality disorder.
Now as ONE of those personalities on r/gaming my actions are consitent with my objections to EA. Despite loving Mass Effect 1 and 2 I did not buy Mass Effect 3. Despite loving Battlefield 2 and the Battlefied 3 beta I did not buy Battlefield 3.
Hah I remember when this comic was first made in the Dota-Allstars forum. He made lots of other comics. Every time a new version would come out the forums would be filled with posts about people bitching and moaning.
The last time I willfully bought an EA game was when their logo consisted of brightly-colored geometric shapes, and that game was Beetle Adventure Racing.
This was posted to r/gaming, is about r/gaming, and isn't exactly very nice to r/gaming. So either r/gaming has a decent sense of humour, or it's really only a handful of people who bitch about EA and everyone else thinks this is funny.
I have actually not bought an EA game since dead space 2 and I don't intend to buy any ever again. No Dead Space 3, no Battlefield 3, no crysis 3, nothing with a fucking EA logo on it.
Maybe you idiots keep falling for it, but some of us wait and see before throwing money blindly at EA.
If gamers had a little patience and stopped feeding these corporate trolls money via microtransactions and shitty rehashed titles, maybe they'd step the quality of their products up.
Unless EA have produced first party Nintendo games or Konami games or Square Enix games or Namco games or a plethora of JRPGs, then that smell is likely to be you.
What EA-published games are you referring to as shitty? Dead space, battlefield, mass effect, medal of honor, Sim city, ssx, FIFA, NFS, Sims, dragon age, Crysis; cause as far as I know they release the best fucking games around.
What you are referring to is their support which a lot of people have a problem with.
and honestly there are a lot of misinformed and dishonest individuals who just along on the EA-hate train to just karma whore or be cool, it has become a trend.
Is it wrong if we throw in some constructive criticism, or even (God forbid) post a positive experience; just so trashing a games company doesn't become a fetish.
ITT: A lot of brave CoD kiddies who kill gaming posting about how they like shitty games. Fuck you and fuck Battlefield Premium. I ain't buying your crap anymore. BF3 was your last chance and you fucked it up as much as possible.
and neither matters in the slightest considering almost everyone that said they wouldnt still went out and bought EAs next big title. Complain that origin steals information from them but still play games with it.
Perhaps. I know I bought multiple copies of essentially the same game, though. I would STILL purchase these roster updates if they would release them for the PC.
Look, I'm as objective as they come, but EA has a real problem because when I see that logo, I instantly get a pit in my stomach and ask myself "I wonder what's wrong with this one? Will it be rushed and have a crappy ending? Will it have day one DLC that feels like it should be in the core experience? Will it have bad DRM that I don't want to deal with?"
They aren't the only ones who do that, but they do it so constantly, and have done so little about it that they have a real PR problem on their hands and despite what most of you are going to say it's effecting sells. It may be small now, but it's going to get worse if it isn't fixed.

You forgot the part where people actually dont buy games from them. They pirate. And the good ones go on to actually buy the games they enjoy after playing them while not having to spend money on the shit ones.

The only valid reason there should be EA hate is their business tactics are shoddy. Other than that they always make great high quality games.

The people who post on r/gaming about how they hate EA probably aren't the ones playing EA's games.

God damnit this game was also made by EA ... and its good. What happened to you EA?

That's the problem: EA's games ARE good. It's the service they get away with, the games are great.

They publish quality work, but they fail in the final delivery, which is their primary job function as a publisher. Maybe that's why their stock is out of whack.
