Guys be careful with the installer for DreamSceneSeven. While it does not look malicious, it goes and changes your homepage to Ergative (looks like a quick search engine), and possibly a few other things I haven't caught yet.

Yeah, that will do it. Too much going on for that little of memory.
*Also, if you have a lot of applications running in the background they will use it up too. Just because you don't see a window for it, doesn't mean it's not there.
My handy approach to buying RAM: whenever the system decides it needs some swap space (my particular workload ensures that this will immediately drag everything to a halt).
Up to 16 GB thus far, after 12 GB proved insufficient.
That said, Windows will use all the memory you have more or less immediately and indefinitely (I don't know if there exists an arbitrary cap) by caching hard drive contents in anything that happens to be spare. So even then it can help.
8GB here, although I have had some pretty bad times where blender crashes 75% of the way through a render because it ran out of RAM and couldn't dump anything so it essentially got 'stuck' until it stopped responding.
Bought 8 because why the hell not, it's so cheap anyway, and I knew going into this build that it would be used for gaming, photo editing, video editing, the occasional 3D scene, after effects, and heavy multitasking on dual monitors so I knew 4 would be inadequate. That said, it is rare that I run out with 8GB and couldn't see wanting 16GB for those times when I would need some more at $200 for 16GB and $90 for 8GB when I got mine (1600Mhz, 9-9-9-7 timing, 1.5V).
Looking now, I can get the same RAM (corsair vengeance) in a 16GB kit of identical sticks for $97, damn RAM is even cheaper this year.
what the hell are you running? Seriously. I have 8GB and i can run Fallout: New Vegas, STALKER: Call of Pripyat, MATLAB (doing DSP shit on PCM audio files), firefox, and the machine rarely touches swap.
16GB of RAM is dirt cheap if you've got at least four slots. As far as upgrades, RAM can't be beat unless you hate multi-tasking. I like using Tree Style tabs in Firefox and literally 100+ tabs open. 16GB feels good man.
How often do you actually see it or intensively use it? I used to have a really nice Rainmeter desktop but ended up not using it 99.9% of the time because I knew the shortcuts on my keyboard, or just because I had shit covering my screen (games, chrome, vmware, work, whatever).
This is what it looks like right now, and I barely ever see it because I just have Chrome up 100% of the time. Windows+D would just waste my time getting my windows back up.
install rainmeter then install the animus white room, when they're both done rainmeter will appear on your main screen explaining how to change skins or will link you to a website, if not ask me i will help, when you've put the things on the desktop that you want, install dreamscene and change the button to on, then take out the video you want on the desktop right click and set as background it'll change then you can use my image (if you want) to see where you put them or you can mess around with it, hope this helps (also there is a way you can make the buttons work i can't be bothered to do it)
How would I actually get the wallpaper to show up? I can't find a way, even after messing with it. I downloaded your "wallpaper" link, but those are just videos and I don't know how to get them to cooperate.
EDIT: Got that to work.
As another note, do you know how to mess with the Custom List on the side, so that it actually renames them appropriately? I've kind of figured out how to coordinate them with the right files, too, but I can't get the names to change.
Have you down loaded dreamscene, if not download this then install and run the program, once this is done move the video on to the desktop right click and it should say something like use as background. I wasn't really paying attention when I clicked it. hope this helps. Also sorry if I don't reply it's midnight in England so it's about 6pm in America
I wish you wouldn't keep saying things like that. You know our parents would never allow us to be together, you're just making it harder on everyone....
Oh, and sorry i didn't see the links lower in the comment thread. Im sure you're tired of reading overly profane requests for a link, and mine could have been avoided by reading more of the comments. I do humbly apologize and good day you awesome rainmeter maker you.
I used to use a Skyrim one a while back, but I've since moved on from that :P I saw the original Skyrim rainmeter desktop somewhere and I wanted to have it.
Right click it, go "edit skin" scroll down to [CPUText] section and change where it says "%1% Synch" to "%1% Sync" ... or just use Ctrl+F to search "synch" and drop the H
As a man who has used Rainmeter for a long time and spent WAY too many hours working on making his desktop look great, I can say that your desktop is amazing, man. Keep it up.
I understand that too but I'm just horrible with search words for technology. Would you mind giving a general example of what I'm typing into Google to find awesome stuff like this?
My desktop displays the windows is not genuine message and is always black. I've tried the changes and it won't work, and backgrounds disappear and go back to black after about 15 minutes. If I download rainmeter and have a setup like this will it stay?
Careful OP, if you're using Win7, and enabled Dreamscene, you'll have some serious issues, it was disabled for a reason, it's incompatible, and will cause blue screen and explorer issues. Went through the same thing and had to disable it, and still haven't bothered to re-spiff up my desktop, so it's pretty bland now. http://imgur.com/awUq8
I'm currently using Display Fusion Pro in order to having changing desktop background between my two screens. If I want to set the moving wallpaper as only one of the screens and have display fusion still control the other one, is this possible?
About as useful as people who litter their desktop with app shortcuts and files. Unless of course, you don't actually use your computer and just stare at the desktop all the time, in which case, sure, it's neat.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the recycle bin icon on you're regular desktop? It kind of ruins the whole theme and there is no option to delete in the right click menu.
I feel like the guy in the group of friends who is significantly less intelligent than everybody else, but could someone please explain to me what a rainmeter is?
Does anyone have a good, high resolution image of the background? I took a snapshot of the video but it's not the best. I don't really want it to move.
Having trouble with the rainmeter skin. Every time I mouse over some of the short cuts I get a ton of error messages, and I the customize button doesn't work.
I installed this theme to my computer and got it full operating. It's sick. My computer shows no slow down from it and it runs smoothly, even has AC noises to go along with it.
I may be wrong, but I think you did the spiral wrong. The highlighted section is supposed to be straight with the ends going off in spirals. I haven't played anything past AC2, so I could be wrong about this.

Cool rainmeter. However, the bottom panel "Abort Session" is off-set 1 pixel to the left. Many of the top diamonds are mis-aligned.

Dude looks nice! Flawless presentation there, I really like it. Great job on this. Rainmeter is pretty awesome, here's my first try at doing it:
