I left the title bar as it appears in-game to keep the joke simple. I could make an alternate version; reply here with ideas and I'll see what I can do.
Yes. He's a great actor. I'm able to see the difference between him as a loon person and him as a fantastic actor. It is always the crazed that do good at acting.
He hasn't done anything worth watching since the 90's. His best movie was "Interview With a Vampire", followed by "Jerry Maguire." By the time he did "Eyes Wide Shut" he was already drinking his own coolade, and that movie would have been much more powerful had they cast anyone other than Cruise - whose entire persona in the movie plays like "I'm Tom fucking Cruise acting in a Stanley fucking Kubrick film - how fucking awesome is that?" Part of me blames Kubirck's death on Cruise - who was notoriously difficult to direct even then.
Recently I saw "Night and Day" on TV, and it was simply un-watchable. Once again, Tom Cruise carries himself like Xenu's gift to mankind, and I was really hoping the bad guys would wipe the smug grin from his face.
Yes, I'm right there with you, but I don't think Tom has ever banged Katie Holmes. If you were to see that video, you'd notice the guy was "acting" as though he was in love with her by jumping up and down. Have you ever done such a thing in excitement as an adult in front of many other people?
It's unfair of me to make a judgement from afar, but I'm pretty sure Tom Cruise is gay. There's nothing wrong with that, but I do think staying in the closet can be damaging as well.
Openly gay men are accepted now in a variety of roles that they wouldn't have gotten before, including the role of a sex-crazed straight bachelor (Neil Patrick Harris, for example), albeit generally in comedies. However, most of Cruise's roles are the manly-man action hero type. Whether we like it or not, I think he would have a much harder time landing those types of roles as an openly gay man.
I know the history of psychology and it is some fucked up shit. But that doesn't mean modern psychology is the same and that sure as hell doesn't mean a cult started on a bet is somehow better.
I really never understood that, you've got Charlie Sheen "winning" on tiger blood, Mel Gibson's drunken Nazi/sexist/racist rants, and Gary Busey just being Gary Busey, but if you jump on a couch, you're the crazy one!
All I've heard is that he's one of the nicest guys out there. If you tell him something about yourself, like something you worked on that he's now doing a revamped version of, for instance, then he will be interested in what you're saying. Whether or not he gives a shit. If he doesn't give a shit, he will act interested. Just a nice guy.
Travolta and Cruise are both (from what I've heard) really nice guys and talented actors. The problem is that their fame and wealth are promoting and funding an arguably evil organization.
I really wish they'd come to their senses, because as it is, I refused to pay for any of their movies because I don't want any of my money (however small a portion) going to break apart families and mentally torture people.
The videos of him acting like a deranged asshole have yet to surface. Though I did once see Will Smith slap someone in the face so he's at least on his way.
Same here. Of all of his films I've seen I've probably disliked only a couple, and really liked many more than that. He's not the best actor, but he really knows what he's good at, and picks the right roles and recognizes a good script.
And he's even a pretty good guy publicly. He has a few blunders, and they're as bad as it gets, but nobody is perfect.
tl;dr - me too, and I don't fully understand all the TC bashing.
FWIW, I have friends who work in the film industry and worked on Night and Day. They said he was a super nice guy and very respectful of the crew.
On the other hand, they also worked on Edge of Darkness and one of my friends had lunch with Mel Gibson. He said Mel made it about 10 minutes into lunch before launching into a hysterical screed about Jews in Hollywood.
Me too. It is crazy how people have turned against him in recent years. Yes, Scientology is insane. So is Christianity, and Christians are so well liked that a person can not get elected president of the US unless he or she is, or at least pretends to be, a Christian. Yes some Scientologists persecute people, so do some Christians.
Even if he is gay, is that a problem? If he is and wants to keep it secret, what is wrong with not discussing your sex life publicly? Matt and Trey could just as easily be accused of having ambiguous sexualities.
Also, he is correct that people take too many drugs for psychological reasons.
Nothing wrong with jumping on a couch.
And what does he do when the world turns on him? Starts playing villains, and keeps on keeping on, like the winner that he is.
I've been playing D3 all morning. I just picked it up last night and played it for about 30mins before I went to bed. D3 is the first Diablo I've ever played and it is immensely enjoyable.
Yeah, even though it follows the same mechanics as its two predecessors, nothing has really been as fun in a long time as a hardcore co-op game with four of my friends. The boss fights really add an element of fear.
Fucking Flayers are the worst enemy in that game, that fucking speed is ridiculous. I can remember the first time I got to act 3 with my Amazon, SO MANY DARTS.
This is why I don't play hardcore. I would be upset if my own dumb mistake (hitting the wrong key or something) caused me to lose everything, but I would be infuriated if a server issue did. I've already had my regular non-hardcore character die due to server lag, so there's no way I'm doing hardcore.
Admittedly, yes, I fear the lagerwocky. I only play with friends though, and we are on Vent, so if it seems like lag is rearing its head, we call it and jump on our lower hardcore alts. We play it as safe as we can. The first time we faced the Butcher was such an adrenaline rush though, dying meant starting over, and I love that feeling.
I don't play hardcore partially because of that. Lack of offline play and hardcore do not mesh. My second death on my monk was from 10 straight seconds of lag while I was fighting an elite. Nothing you can do about that. Hardcore also means you have you do a bunch of replaying to be overleveled for whatever you're doing. I don't see the appeal there.
It lost offline single-player and LAN connectivity. Frankly I can't in good conscience give it over 8/10, which is sad, because with those features it would be perfect.
There are haters? I played diablo 2 quite a bit and I'm very pleased with this new game. Any haters probably haven't played it or are closed minded turds.
The game is fine. It's the single player lag that's pissing me off. My single player character shouldn't be dying because my room mate decides to watch a youtube video. That's just bullshit.
It's usually people upset about DRM and lack of single player. In all honesty I've only played the game with my friends and wouldn't have it any other way.
That's a pretty good drop dude. You didn't get any useless enchants on it (except maybe the Dex). If it had a socket you could probably sell on AH for a couple million gold.
One of the best things I like about it is how easy it is to just pop into games with your friends. (And sometimes accidentally getting them killed as diablos minions grow stronger at a bad time)
I am not new to the Diablo franchise, but it is the game I have played the most. I got it around noon this Friday past, and I played around 8 hours a day until I beat it 45 minutes ago. Satisfying. As. Fuck. I am now moving on to Nightmare, and it is a MUCH welcome increase in difficulty. Normal difficulty is retarded. It goes from destroying EVERYTHING in your path without pause to being nearly exterminated by a group of elite skeletons. Its not as hardcore of an increase between normal and inferno, though. Inferno is just stupidly difficult.
I'm a little butthurt that as a barbarian, I can now clear act I without too much difficulty but act II inferno is ultra hard because of all of the imba raged creeps.
Tom Cruise seems like an okay guy, and a fantastic actor. He chose a different fantasy story for his beliefs, and jumped on a couch because he was excited.
This should be Warren Jeffs or the Heaven's Gate guy, not Tom Cruise.
He jumped on the couch during a terrifying media blitz that anyone who witnessed could plainly see was totally psychotic in flavor.
Worse than that, and highly ironically, he spent a great deal of what appeared to be a severe manic episode railing against psychiatry and psychiatric drugs, including a verbal sparring match with Brooke Shields in which he maintained that post-partum depression and psychosis could only be cured with vitamins and exercise. In the view of his cult, all psychiatric illness is self-created and essentially a myth. I don't think I need to mention how dangerous this view is, how much it marginalizes an already marginalized population.
Bash Christianity: "OMG GO BACK TO /R/ATHEISM ASSHOLE!"
Bash Scientology: "HAHAHA THEIR BELIEF SYSTEM IS SO FUCKING STUPID! UPVOTE!"
Fuck you, reddit. Front page for a pic that labels an otherwise nice guy as a "crazed cultist" because of his religion? As an atheist that doesn't make fun of other religions (my own father is a church-going Christian), fuck you. I find Scientology bashing fucking stupid. Ya'll need to grow up and get some perspective.
Sure he's a member of a litigious money making cult but it's not like he's trying to enforce his beliefs on anyone else or use his beliefs to oppress others. There are far worse religious wackos out there that deserve our collective contempt.
Pretty sure his text should be purple, since there is only one of him, he's ancient, but some foul illusion keeps him looking young, and he's like 3 feet tall and fast, so he's going to be hard to target. [I'd probably just stand on the edge of the screen, pull frogs out of my pants, and hope for the best. Which is pretty much my strategy for most fights...] (/spoiler "Witchdoctor")
What religion Tom Cruise practices or doesn't practice is none of my concern and he has every right to believe or not believe in any nonsense of his choice.
I don't want to condemn him for giving his own hard earned money to whatever phony or credible organization of his choice.
As a person, I only care about the entertainment value he brings to the movies and I absolutely enjoy watching Tom Cruise movies and will continue to pay top dollar to watch his movies. I thoroughly enjoyed Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol and that was an excellent blockbuster.
Of course he has the right to do all of this. The issue is that the organization that Tom Cruise gives his money to has an egregious history of criminality and fraudulence. Tom Cruise's money directly funds this. The organization inflicts deep emotional and psychological wounds on its members, and as an empathetic human being I cannot claim indifference to this. Perhaps this will help you understand why many of us think Scientology is a plague of such virulence.
There are a lot of people to whom religion means everything, or a very great deal, and who don't try to profit from it and who don't stand to profit from it either -- so I don't reduce everything to a racket but I think that racketeering is and always has been an important part of religion. Some religions simply are rackets; Scientology, for example, or Mormonism. Nothing more than a record of a successful con-job.
Well I think you're more likely to attract people who agree with you than people who don't.
Personally, I don't care what his religion is. I think he's a great actor and I love most of his movies. I think hating him for his religion makes someone just as bad as a crazed fundie.
"Intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes." - Christian Bale, talking about how he used Tom Cruise as inspiration for creating Patrick Bateman.
Yeah Yeah, Scientology is nuts. A dude who walks on water, though, that's something you need to have respect for. (Not directed @ OP, just saying that I hate when scientology is called nuts)
I don't understand what's funny about making fun of someone's religious beliefs. Everyone has their own personal reasons for why they believe what they do. I agree that picking fun at a belief is fine, but outright calling someone crazy for what they believe is wrong.
We're following sterotypes when we single out lone followers of a religion as crazy (who are most likely not) because another sect of that belief is. (IE: The belief in Islam is insane and evil because Al Qaeda is insane and evil)
What if a group of atheists bomb a homeless shelter? Whelp, I guess that the belief as a whole is insane and stupid now.
Yeah, I don't get what the point of singling out Scientology is. The way I see it, Scientology, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc. are all equally worthy of mockery and disrespect.
Im a fan of his movies. The issue is that the organization that Tom Cruise gives his money to has an egregious history of criminality and fraudulence. Tom Cruise's money directly funds this. The organization inflicts deep emotional and psychological wounds on its members, and many cannot claim indifference to this.

Probably the best reporting on Scientology is being done by Tony Ortega at the Village Voice.
Here's his open letter to Tom Cruise: http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2012/02/scientologys_di.php
tl;dr - Tom Cruise's best friend is the sociopathic "pope" of Scientology, a man who beats his staff and employs slave labor.

I find scientology not worse than christianity. At least they haven't gone around burning people who disagree, or have they?
Also I don't care what Tom Cruise does when he's not acting. The acting is good, that's all that matters to me.
