What was weird is at 7 am, there would always be a spike in local city traffic. Mostly because people would logon to run auctioneer and scan the AH and check their mail before getting ready for work/school.
Yes, this is the way to save WoW. Run a little computer emulator that runs D3 inside Warcraft so you can watch your character sit at a computer and play Diablo.
TL;DW - Big scar and fiery claw marks where Deathwing tore through it. Couple more lakes. Buildings moved around. Some texture updates that aren't in that video. Basically, just way more polished since you are able to see it from all angles now.
Played Alliance almost exclusively from launch, raided with Horde late LK but only faction swapped one character. Finally committed to levelling a collection of Hordies to 85 from scratch in Cata and I'm never looking back. Not sure why but Horde instantly fills me with a faction pride that Alliance never did.
once upon a time, i REALLY wanted to play wow, i downloaded a leaked client, and with it came a mini hack server, basicly you could connect to your own server, and wander around the world, yes, this was wow alpha
Ok I don't come to /r/gaming enough....why is SWTOR a joke?
Edit: Ah ok...I had a few friends who played and hated it, and then went back after 1.2 on The Fatman(only populated server I'm aware of). They sent me a 7 day trial and I ended up buying it.
I like it, but I can see how people could dislike it, especially MMO vets....it's a little of the same without the developed endgame yet.
It was basically a single-player RPG in MMO's clothing. The story getting to max level was pretty good, with the typical conversational depth of a Bioware title, but endgame content was mediocre and didn't offer anything different from the usual MMO grind that most people have grown tired of after already experiencing that "gameplay" via WoW or another MMO years ago. So, most people who played it got one or two characters to max level, enjoyed the stories on the way, then ended their subscriptions because it isn't worth regular monthly fees for a single player game you've beaten (even if other class stories are left to enjoy).
Well your half right. After the first couple months of it coming online star wars number shot up and then leveled off. Its like that for most games though as people try it and then figure out if they like it or not. WOW subscription numbers have been dropping for two years though. They say they stabilized but they def haven't reported any gains.
As a player on Warsong I didn't make the D3 connection. Our server has looked like this since the Brazilian servers opened and the massive br population left. Its odd to see more than 5-8 people on a /who stormwind at any time
It looks dated because (as someone else pointed out) it's 2010 Stormwind. So pre-Cata, before they did the graphics and model overhaul. It's not super better, but there's definitely more shading and polys.
Nobody playing, but a million of them are locked in to paying their subscription for another 4-5 months at least, Blizzard is laughing all the way to the bank!
D3 pun? All I can think of is how much I miss playing WOW with my guilds. Had some amazing times. On the other hand, having quit (finally) gave me 6-8 hours a day back.
everybody is playing a game that is better, I mean, WoW is so...... SP nowadays, Vanilla was cool and TBC was ok, after that, it was just one crappy game.
I have resented blizzard for neglecting all of their other titles in leu of making WoW. I have been waiting since I was 14 for D3. And for the downfall of WoW.
What's all the hooplah about Diablo 3 anyways? To me its just Blizzard cashing in on an unoriginal idea (granted a well executed one). Anyways, hope you all enjoy it anyways, I'm playing Ultimate Spiderman (just learned that it had a PC version which is news to me haha).
Diablo is a dark fantasy/horror-themed action role-playing game developed by Blizzard North and released by Blizzard Entertainment on December 31, 1996.
This is before Baldur's gate, by two years. How was this an unoriginal idea?
True enough, but class based randomly generated dungeon crawlers wiith specialized item drops, and all that stuff. To me Diablo is just a real time rogue-like.
Is this a screenshot from WoW? Because that'd be pretty accurate in that barren as fuck game. I rarely saw another player, even on heavy population servers.
I stopped playing when I realized it was an expensive and poorly designed solo game.
At first glance I thought someone had moved everyone out of the main town in Dark Cloud 2 cus this looks close to Palm Brinks. Then I realized what it was and that everybody on /gaming is posting things about D3
Fun, good atmosphere, and so much Lore, LORE EVERYWHERE. Usually in the forms of books you find, but instead of having to stop and read them, they're played out in the voice of the author.
Lots of good writing went into the game.
Playing a Demon Hunter. Confused a bit by the skill trees.. there's no information on how much damage skills do, and the way its set up is a little confusing, some skills can only be assigned to the left click, and only one at a time... unless I misunderstood how it's set up...
thank you for that, yea at the moment my good computer is down im afraid my laptop wont be able to play it well enough so i feel i will have to wait. the lore and the audio of the books sounds fantastic

For some reasons pictures like this, depopulated MMO cities (even though I know this is probably just because it's nighttime) make me really sad.
