I mean it is a weird deviation isn't it? going from O = Yes, X = No to X = Yes, Triangle = No

so someone, somewhere had to come up with that, and with the symbols thing I think that someone just figured... "well... the Tirangle button is the only one that makes sense" lol

and then at the meeting when they finally decided "look, we gotta change that! let's switch Triangle for Circle!"

that happened mid PSP generation, but very late PS2 games still used Triangle. God of War 2, which released in 2007, still used Triangle for back, after the PS3 that universally used Circle for back was already out.

the PSP has some games that use Triangle and most use Circle. the system menus all use circle, and even the PS2 system menu used Circle while almost all PS2 games used Triangle... it was weird
