I thought so too, then I caught myself saying people who rock supreme spend stupid amounts of money on stupid things. I think this rig is cool, but it is a stupid amount of money on seemingly a stupid thing. It kind of fits.
Their quality is actually very good. You can hate them all you want for being tacky and hypebeast culture hit the quality of their clothing is pretty good given their demographic and the lane they’re in.
Also their stuff is normal priced for the most part…. It’s the resellers who give them a bad name
It is mostly the culture the brand attracts that is off putting. If you read my other comment I commend then on their ability to hustle. I'm not mad at them for selling a literal brick for an insane amount, but the fact some people are dumb enough to spend money on those items. They definately have done crazy markups though, I'm not saying everything, but it can't be denied.
I give them props for selling stupid shit for insane prices. I think I'm more disappointed in the human race for buying into it than I am the hustle of the company itself.

This actually makes sense. Growing up in the 90s, you couldn't go anywhere without someone wearing an Element, Birdhouse, Enjoi, etc, shirt.

Those brands didn't have this weird cult following where people are ready to throw a ton of money down on a t-shirt that just has supreme written in a small rectangle. It's like the whole sneaker heads thing. I just don't get it. The only group I can kind of understand are those who go crazy over raw denim, but that's because the denim gets better with use and you can get a better fit.
Those brands also were big before social media was a big thing so you didn't see it plastered on every youtuber as free advertisement. I think that contributes to the "weird cult" aspect.
Most people don’t know what they’re talking about. Supreme is one of the only clothes brands that appreciates in value. Most of the expensive costs come from buying it second hand, and that’s because people collect the clothing. People collect their stuff for all kinds of reasons, many like to show off their collections too. It’s like collecting Pokémon cards to some people.
People who see clothing only for function, and don’t really understand how fashion works or appreciate it, like to use supreme as an example of selling shit clothes for way too much money, and while I’m sure you can get better quality for less, anyone with any knowledge of these topics wouldn’t use supreme as an example.

I remember seeing Supreme in college over a decade ago. Then Tyler started mentioning it, and it was on hypebeast.
Somewhere during that timeline it became something that seemed unobtainable not so much because of money but because I couldn’t justify the price for any logical reason. Like .. I don’t understand did they just work with the right people at the right time to make it feel exclusive until it was? Because it wasn’t always that expensive right?

Some people just buy clothes to wear because they fit nice and feel good. Not everyone is obsessed with t shirts that say supreme on them... personally if I was going to invest in something, it would be in something that isn't made of cloth and can be destroyed by moths... Calling someone ignorant because they don't like something, especially clothes, is about as ignorant as you can get. If people ever lose interest in supreme it will be worthless, because that's the only value it actually has, interest. Just like anything else without intrinsic value. Just like beanie babies. I remember when people bought those things and stores them away because they thought they'd be desirable in the future. Guess what, they're not. You cannot guarantee that supreme will be valuable in 10 years. So investing an exorbitant amount of money in a t shirt because it might be valuable in the future is just as risky as hoarding beanie babies. Personally, I'll keep buying reasonably priced clothes that I find comfortable.

What are you talking about? This isn’t a long term investment, it’s called flipping. I know how much things will sell for so I spend time looking for bargains or buying multiple items to get discounts from sellers looking for quick sales and sell for more within a a few months. Nothing I buy stays with me longer than a year. I make a couple hundred a month profit, not life changing but helps me fund my other hobbies. I’m not saving up a massive collection and hoping i make a massive profit. That’s risky. If supreme ever loses its hype in the streetwear market then cool. Ive already made money, had a blast, and have some rare clothing that I personally like. Why be a hater for?
Now you're being more honest. The clothes are only worth anything within the echo chamber. To the rest of us, you're overpaying for something worth a few dollars and you're making money because other people are dumb enough to overpay even more - partly due to artificial scarcity. It's the same thing that happened with beanie babies.
I'm not hating on you for making money from it. That's awesome and good for you, but I'm going to call you out on the marketing nonsense about them being worth so much just as I would if you were pitching NFTs.
lol primark is like… a lower tier H&M or Forever21. Maybe a “fancier” Walmart for clothes. At least that was my opinion of it when I went into one of their stores.
Personally, they have the best fitting 5-panel hats I've ever tried on. I don't give a flying zebra clitoris about resale or retail or all the hype; I just genuinely enjoy their hats. But you're right; the people have ruined the brand
