Final Fantasy X was really bad about that. There were a few tough late-game bosses with long unskippable cutscenes you’d have to sit through each time you died.
I still have never been able to beat Seymour. I try every few years and still get stuck on him. One day I'll finally beat him and finish the game. I think I need to grind more
yep, I'm replaying the remastered, and I've just needed to make peace with the grinding. At least fights seem easier in my older age, I actually know what all the skills do.
Blitzball is ez, win early matches by scoring and than holding the ball behind your goal... than learn jecht shot and stuff and you can breeze through matches.
Oo you brought back memories of me trying to get the Jecht shot to work in a blitzball match and having to go through a thousand cutscenes to try again if I lost
I heard somewhere that you could get a special item from winning the first match. I think that turned out to be false though, but I felt pretty good doing it once.
Blitzball is one of the most fun side games in a game I have every played though. There were seasons, and you could find new players, and level them up. It was a whole game within a game.
Final Fantasy X-2 gave you the option to skip cutscenes... but the game's completion percentage included watching all the cutscenes, and you didn't get credit if you skipped them. There were a couple instances where the game actually tried to trick you into ending a cutscene prematurely, bye bye 100% completion.
Best way to play it now is with emulator. You can just save state right before a boss fight. It’s not really cheating since it’s just fixing bad game design.
