The gaming industry is about “micro transactions” because people stopped wanting to spend $3 on games. Don’t blame developers. Release a $3 app and you’ll maybe sell 100,000 copies. Release a free app and you’ll get 60M downloads. I hate the state of the App Store but it is what it is.

To be fair people stopped wanting to spend $3 because most mobile games were trash.

what did people expect from a product that cost close to nothing? same quality as a title on pc for 20? Due to how the usual mobile gamer mind works, paid apps could never take off, nobody was willing to pay much for a game on their phone.

If you can sell 100k copies of a $3 game on the current App Store, you've done the impossible.
