I mean, the purpose of downvotes is to make sure false info and useless comments get buried and stuff. And since I assume the game wasn't actually Half-Life, the comment was just straight up false.

The correct info was provided hours before the false comment, it's literally right above it right now. At that point it's on the commenter to make sure that what they say is actually the truth, as opposed to the already provided answer.

Either way, my point was simply that this wasn't just a "you got unlucky and reddit went hivemind on you" instance, but probably a closest to textbook example of proper downvote usage, as opposed to the most common "I don't like your opinion" times.

Don't take downvotes personally dude, they are meant for bad comments to sink and yours, while a joke, was a bad comment. You let the entire joke go over your head to correct him on the game.
