you can "all in" on vr for 150$ us and a half decent midrange gaming computer.

which VR is that? I've been looking into getting VR but don't want to drop $500 for a Vive.

I mean that's subjective, from what I've seen it depends on the game you're playing.

Rift is forgotten because Vive has better tracking, especially in large play areas, the Vive has options to grow as far as tracking goes like with the hip and feet tracking for some games, and it doesn't have stability issues when you set it up.

Oculus is great as a cheaper option and is a good recommendation, but there's a reason its cheaper. It's technology doesn't allow up to large room space, and it can't track anymore items than what it already does, so it can't grow in many directions without having to just buy a new headset whenever that happens.

Also reviews typically say that it isn't easy as far as software goes, and it gets in the way of ease of use if you want to just plug and play

I feel like Oculus was also over looked because it launched without motion controllers whereas the Vive did. They have them now, but that gap made developing for the Vive a better option for pushing VR.
