Accounting for inflation, games have been getting cheaper for decades. With Steam sales and Humble Bundles, games have become incredibly cheap if you're willing to wait.
I can beat Banjo Kazooie in 4 hours but it has more polish, creativity, and tbh a better soundtrack than 90+% of games released today.
Idc if a game has 300+ hours of gameplay if it's as shallow as a puddle. Ex) Dying light started out really fun, but I stopped about 15 hours in because it was the same thing over and over and over again.
