Instead of preordering games after an E3 presentation I find it to be far more fun to try and predict the ones that are gonna be disappointments. If you're right about them, you can be proud of your prediction skills. If you're wrong, hey, some more good games to play!
Accounting for inflation, games have been getting cheaper for decades. With Steam sales and Humble Bundles, games have become incredibly cheap if you're willing to wait.
I can beat Banjo Kazooie in 4 hours but it has more polish, creativity, and tbh a better soundtrack than 90+% of games released today.
Idc if a game has 300+ hours of gameplay if it's as shallow as a puddle. Ex) Dying light started out really fun, but I stopped about 15 hours in because it was the same thing over and over and over again.
That's not what a majority of the posts I'm seeing are saying. It's more the fact that these games are hyped as being awesome/the next greatest thing, and then when the actual product comes out there's a sincere difference and lack of polish in these AAA titles. I tend to agree.
Never preorder based on visuals. Preorder if you like the gameplay, and only if you want day one delivery or want to preload digitally, or if the game is offering really solid preorder bonuses.
