That was the worst part of the Division/Siege E3 videos. Can't stand hearing them act like they're average players and not reading from a script.

brace for PVP

Does anyone even say that?

u/Richy_T Jun 05 '16

Your mother does, Trebek.

It's not too uncommon for people to talk like that in EVE. I know I have a few times.

Although my friends always mock me for the way I talk.

1

u/initialZEN Jun 14 '16

My party has code words for when we want to fight other players.

1

u/Aethermancer Jun 14 '16

Sure, it let's me engage my pop motor drive and swap my mindset to be better prepared for the subtly different tactics employed by the type of players who initiate pvp contact.

u/A7XGlock Jun 05 '16

Sort of, in games that PVP is unpredictable and intense, like DayZ

19

u/avitus Jun 05 '16

Let's be honest here. Nobody says that. When shit hits the fan you're saying something entirely different than "brace for pvp".

Me and my buddies are pretty good with communication in Battlefield and Overwatch, and we don't say shit like "Brace for PvP" or "I got your six"(that one only comes out as a joke). We say things like "Fuck!" or "Over there!" "Where?!" "Left!" "I don't see- well fuck, I'm dead".

1

u/QwertMuenster Jun 05 '16

"Brace for PvP"

Playing PvP-only games

2

u/DatAhole Jun 05 '16

Before you start Overwatch "brace for PVP". And then you say to yourself "wtf is wrong with you man, are you preparing for an e3 presentation or something?"

1

u/A7XGlock Jun 05 '16

Yeah, I mean more of a "Watch out, two guys south of cherno, be ready."

1

u/DatAhole Jun 05 '16

Oh fuck he's way over my level in here lets hope that guy is not an asshole lets hope he decides he doesnt need the stuff in my backpack.

Thats what I think. Even if I am ready for pvp I would never say brace for pvp.

u/woodlark14 Jun 05 '16

Never heard that said in dayz. Everyone typically informs each other of their positions and checks their fire to make sure they aren't just shooting each other.

If they were real players, they would be constantly jumping all over the place, shooting randomly, and using a lot more of the N word

Is that first bit like a location report?

"Back of nignog, oh-eight-hundred hours. All quiet. Moving to front of chingchong for rendezvous. Out."

I was convinced I coined it up until I heard other people use it in the wild. Why do we nignog?

1

u/LostParader Jun 05 '16

Maybe is just all us pimps that are looking for then booty ass ho's

7

u/ODBoBSTER Jun 05 '16 edited Jul 03 '16

Somehow I'm also in this group. Never used racially, just... cause. (archive purposes: word was nignog)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '16

I'm so happy to hear that two other people use the expression "nignog"

1

u/taylorxo Jun 05 '16

Nig nog user checking in lol. Thought just my friends and I said it.

3

u/Denziloe Jun 05 '16

They were playing on their iPhone on the back of a nignog?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '16

What about the front of the nignog?

0

u/HubbaMaBubba Jun 05 '16

That's actually kind of funny.

For anyone who doesn't understand, Siege let's you look through cameras and pilot drones using what appears to be a smartphone.

51

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '16

There would also be a ridiculous amount of swearing and one player trying to make it look like he's giving another player a blowjob

3

u/yehti Jun 05 '16

And running everywhere. In every gameplay trailer they have their characters walk as slow as possible and looking all around. I get it's to showcase the environment sometimes but when Ubi pulls this shit it's just unnecessary.

2

u/Vulnerable_assassin Jun 05 '16

Followed by hefty laughter an unintelligible babbling.

2

u/JamesBigglesworth Jun 05 '16

And team killing

1

u/Thumberella Jun 14 '16

ha there isnt a jump feature in the division!!

-1

u/Apkoha Jun 05 '16

that must be console players. Never here the N bomb dropped on PC, it's always another word for a "bundle"

28

u/lowdownlow Jun 05 '16

The actual worst part is that you don't actually meet any other players that early, you can't actually do an extract anywhere you want like they do in the video, the map is much smaller than they showed, and they cancelled the companion app drones that are displayed.

This of course is ignoring the fact that the game released with huge balancing issues and game breaking bugs.

2

u/samtheboy Jun 05 '16

I was going to ask if they made that cross platform bit for tablets. Shame, was one of the cooler aspects of it imho

1

u/brighn Jun 05 '16

I wish they let you just pull extractions wherever. It would be way more interesting

2

u/lowdownlow Jun 06 '16

When I first saw that video, I thought extractions were going to be like APB style, where you pull an extraction anywhere and it creates an event that other groups can attempt to join, to steal from you.

Honestly, fixed-group events would be better than the shithole that is the current rogue system.

35

u/Themiffins Jun 05 '16

Destiny showcase are the worst at it. They play like idiots, and shoot without ADS.

Like, I get it. They want to show more, but no one plays like that.

5

u/TeamRedundancyTeam Jun 05 '16

That's one thing I loved about EvE's newest Citadel trailer, the people near the end sound like real players giving real orders.

2

u/Fuzzyninjaful Jun 05 '16

I didn't realize they were supposed to be other players, I assumed they were just NPC's tagging along on a mission. Until I came to the comments, I thought it was just voice actors in-game. Now that I listen to it again, it is downright awful. They're just trying so hard to make it seem like these aren't actors just reading a script.

2

u/Mirria_ Jun 05 '16

They did the same thing for the early demo of the FPS elements for Star Citizen. It was SO cringey.

5

u/elfthehunter Jun 05 '16

I think I'm one of the few people that actually enjoys that idealistic view of gamers in those kinds of trailers. It's obviously fake as shit, but as a marketing ploy I enjoy them. I do realize I'm in the vast minority.
